A Weekend in Charming Charleston Travel Guide

Charleston has been a dream destination of mine for years. The historic homes, rich culture, southern comfort food and picturesque streets beckon me more and more each year it seems. Being a Texas gal, I love exploring places in the south and my sister and I left with full bellies and a camera roll full of […] Read more…

Coming Up Roses :: Floral Dress with Pockets

I hope y’all aren’t tired of seeing Charleston in these fashion posts because I have one left! I packed extra outfits because of how picturesque everything is. This Kate Spade floral dress with pockets is one of my favorite dresses, ever. Typically, I am not a fan of full skirts, but I couldn’t resist this one! The rose pattern is beautiful with mixes of reds and pinks. Personally, I feel like the black color-blocking really tones this dress down and makes it easier to wear outside of special occasions. If you are heading to a wedding this fall, I highly recommend this dress. I wore this dress for both work, reporting was so easy with the pockets, and for a cocktail dinner. Plus, I threw on my Chanel espadrilles for walking around South of Broad in Charleston in this dress and for a more casual look. Read more…

Mondays in Of Mercer :: Beacon Dress with Pockets

Happy Monday Y’all! I hope my friends who live in and near the Texas Gulf Coast are doing okay. I know so many areas are flooded and the devastation is horrible. That’s something I’m unfortunately a little too familiar with living and reporting in Coastal Virginia. A few Norfolk-based helicopter squadrons are heading toward Houston and I know they will help save lives.

To kick off the work week, I’m sharing this printed work dress with pockets by Of Mercer. This is a great transitional piece for the office as summer starts to wind down. This stretch fabric is incredibly soft and feels like a comfy sweatshirt. Now, who doesn’t like that in a dress we wear to work for at least eight hours? Plus, this is ideal for me as a reporter when I’m out in the field. However, this dress is also great for those who need to travel for work and look professional while being comfortable.  Read more…

Floral Work Dress :: Jefferson Memorial

Happy Monday everyone! As many of you may know, I wear dresses 90 percent of the time at work. They are easy, low maintenance and I don’t have to worry about mixing and matching tops and bottoms. I usually wear solids, but this floral work dress from Of Mercer is a stunner. The reason I think this dress is particularly TV friendly is the print isn’t too small. It’s not overly distracting or can “move” like thin stripes. When it comes to work dresses, I like conservative silhouettes with unique details. Since I rarely really know what story I’ll be reporting on, I prefer to air on the safe side in case I’m assigned something very serious. While this floral print is fresh, it isn’t overly bright or cheery, so it’s perfect for the office. Read more…

Red, White and Blue :: Fourth of July Style

‘Merica baby! Happy Fourth of July y’all! If you follow me on Instagram, you probably saw I spent my Fourth of July weekend in Washington D.C., which was a blast. I’ll do a full travel guide post soon, but until then I am sharing my favorite Fourth of July style. If this tank looks familiar, it’s because I blogged it two years ago. My friend Olivia accidentally left it it in my bag when we were roommates at Miss USA. I blogged it, but sadly had to return it to her. This year, it’s back and I now have one of my own. It is perfect for pairing with jeans or distressed shorts. I love this All-American Girl tank because it’s easy to style with jeans or shorts. Plus, you can also throw it over a swimsuit as a cover-up. Read more…
