The 3 At Home Workout Essentials I Rely on

This post is in collaboration with Academy Sports & Outdoors. All opinions are my own.

For years now, all of the workouts I do to stay healthy and strong are at home. No, I am not as strong as I could possibly be, but that was never my goal. I want to be happy, healthy and strong enough not to need Johnny to help me move a few things around the house. To be honest, being able to workout in the comfort and convenience of my home is what has kept me dedicated. Whether I sit down and stretch for 15 to 20 minutes while answering emails or actually go through an entire HIIT workout.

I’m excited to collaborate with Academy to share the three at-home workout essentials I rely on. You don’t need tons of equipment (Academy does have an incredible selection), you just need a few things to keep you on track.

The Best Leggings

First on my list for at-home workout essentials are these leggings I’ve sworn by for years! They are super soft, very stretchy and so flattering. They fit true to size and are incredibly comfortable, too! Whether you’re doing a stretch session, a more intense workout, or on a long run, these would be perfect.

I typically do a lot of stretching or HIIT workouts at home and I’ve never had an issue. If you want to add a little extra sparkle in your life, there is a sparkle version that’s super fun. I love wearing these for workouts and also with tunics in real life with boots.

If you’re itching to get started, Academy offers buy online and curbside pickup so you can get your gear right away!

Lightweight Nike Sneakers

If you’re going to be working out at home, I highly recommend getting a pair of sneakers to only wear in your home. That way you don’t trek the dirt and grime from outside into your home. These are less than $80 and I’m so impressed with the quality! They are extremely lightweight, supportive enough for jumping exercises and very comfortable.

The foam at the bottom feels very springy and I love the bounce it gives me for my at-home workouts. They do run a little small, as do most sock-fit style sneakers. I sized up half a size and they are perfect. The pink bottoms are fun, too!

Yoga Mat

I’ve always worked out on a yoga mat when I’m at home. It adds a little extra cushion for my bad knees and gives me more grip than hardwood or tile floors. I got this yoga mat and it is a gamechanger! I love how grippy it is and it’s much thicker than the one I was using before. A few sets of jump squats later, I can already tell a difference.

Another reason a yoga mat is one of my at-home workout essentials is it’s the marker of your workout space. You don’t need a huge room or a gym. Roll out your mat, put some music on and get to work. Let your mat be your workout space and get you into the right mindset to sweat.

This entire outfit and setup is perfect for working out at home or in the future when you feel comfortable going back to the gym. Johnny set his weight loss and fitness goal for this year so I’m also working to keep him accountable! He’s been asking for a kettlebell and a few other things and Academy has everything he needs and I can pick up curbside, which means he can get started right away!
