Spring Must-Have :: Marigold Ruffle Dress & Trench Coat

I’m a big fan of a true sunny yellow shade but this marigold ruffle dress is making me think twice. This is such a flattering color on a variety of skin tones. If you are looking to branch into yellow but are unsure of where to start, I recommend this. The ruffle detailing gives this dress a fun, feminine touch. Also, this fabric feels like a dream on. It’s a slinky weave that feels cool on the skin and doesn’t tug. I’m wearing size P in this ruffle dress and it fits quite well. There is a little bit of extra room in the bust, but it doesn’t bother me too much. The cap sleeves do have a slit in them. However, this is definitely still a very work-appropriate dress. Swap out these block heels for something a little sexier to make this a fun girls night out or date night dress. This marigold number is quite versatile. Read more…

Yellow Crush :: Tie-Waist Pants & White Ruffle Blouse

I’m so thrilled yellow is one of the most popular colors this season! I have been wearing this sunny hue since I was a little kid and as a young teen, I gravitated toward the shade even more. It can be hard to find the right shade for you, but these yellow tie-waist pants are so flattering on so many skin tones! Plus, they are currently $25 off! First of all, the pants fit like a dream. I’m wearing size 00 Petite and while there is a little bit of room at the waist, the ability to tie the pants makes it the perfect fit. If you’re shorter than 5’4, the petite length should fit like a glove. On my 5’3 frame, these hit right above my ankles. The material is thick and high quality yet stretches and skims your body. Your legs will look so long and flattering in these tie-waist pants, promise!

Cold Weather Chic :: Velvet Pants for the Desk to Dinner

I hardly ever wear pants to work, but these navy velvet pants are making me rethink that. It’s no surprise velvet is still living out its moment. I love the lean silhouette of how these velvet pants are cut. There are off-seam pockets, which is a must-have for me. Plus, the way the pants are tailored looks and feels custom. I appreciate the contoured waistband, which helps with fit. I’m wearing a size 00 Petite and it actually runs just a dash big on me. Hence, my belt, which is also big for me, ha! There’s a little bit of smoke and mirrors going on here. Don’t worry, I plan on getting the belt fixed! I’m clearly having some petite girl struggles. While I’d normally consider an alternation job, I’m going to leave these pants alone since they aren’t that big on me. Read more…

Workwear Chic :: Pearl Top and Tapered Pants

I am one of those people who work 24/7. I absolutely love what I do whether it’s being a journalist or finding clothes to help women feel confident.  As you may know, I prefer dresses at work since they are one piece. However, I’m branching out and sharing a great option for the office featuring pants. These River Island tapered pants are so flattering. They really elongate and slim the legs. That’s something this petite gal can get on board with. At first, I thought these could look off, but they look great. River Island’s website calls this color dark gray. However, they are more taupe to me. This color is so versatile and you can wear it all year. I’m wearing size US 2 and they fit so well. If anything, I could hem them an inch, but they look just fine without… Read more…

Southern Style for Fall :: Blue Meadow Vines Blouse

When it comes to blouses for work, I love soft fabrics I can easily manipulate. That way I can weather them over pants or tuck them into skirts without an issue. This blue meadow vines blouse is perfect for fall. The lace yoke neckline is an instant eyecatcher. Plus, I love how it extends to the shoulders, too. This blouse is lightweight, so you can wear it on its own, or underneath blazers or cardigans if it’s chilly. I always have this problem at work, so I love how chic it looks underneath layers. The vine print is sweet and southern, yet sophisticated enough for the office. I’m wearing a size 0 and it fits well while also being easy to take on and off for a blouse without stretch. I’m styling it casually here with leggings and booties.  Read more…
