Exploring the Best Views in Central Park

Hello from New York City! It’s been a bucket list item for years for Johnny and I to go to New York City during the holidays together. I have been several times before but unfortunately, he couldn’t tag along. This time, we are in the NYC for a good few days and are beyond excited to explore and check off some places we’ve been dying to visit! I’m partnering with Sole Society in today’s post to share some warm and comfortable pieces I’m wearing on my trip. Of course, you can’t go on a trip to New York without visiting Central Park. However, it’s quite vast and I want to save you some time. So I’m sharing the best views in Central Park and what I’m wearing to take in those views while staying warm.

Staycation at The Cavalier Hotel in Virginia Beach

In the years I’ve lived in Virginia Beach, I have discovered it is quite charming. From the scenic beaches, to beautiful hikes and growing food scene, Virginia Beach has quite a bit to offer. Watching The Cavalier Hotel get re-built has been a joy and I was incredibly excited when they reached out asking me to do a staycation. Rich history lines the walls of this historic luxurious hotel originally built in 1926. Its guest list is quite impressive including F. Scott Fitzgerald, Frank Sintra, Muhammad Ali and a host of Presidents such as Franklin D. Roosevelt, Harry Truman and Lyndon B. Johnson.

Styling a Statement Coat :: Rich Shades of Red

A statement coat is a must for the fall and winter. It’s the item you can throw over any outfit, walk outside into the crisp air and feel confident. My coat collection is one of my favorites and something I have been building for almost 10 years. This plaid statement coat is a heavy-duty piece with a classic silhouette. The woven fabric is a beautiful mix of rich reds with pinks and a little white to keep everything in balance. The notch lapels give that old-school look but the solo button closure makes this statement coat modern. I’m wearing size XXS in this jacket, which does have an oversized fit. This is handy for when you’re wearing thick sweaters or multiple layers. However, if you’re petite, you may need more alterations. The sleeves are a little long on me but I prefer longer sleeves to keep my wrists warm.

Figure Skating with Outdoor Voices

Right boot on, then left boot on. Lace up the right skate, then lace up the left. On a crisp fall morning, come with me to Chilled Ponds, a local ice rink where I’m rediscovering my love for figure skating as a 27-year-old grandma (in figure skating terms, ha!)

I spent 11 years of my life figure skating. I pursued it competitively for most of those 11 years and as all good things, it came to an end. Injuries and just not being good enough to continue pursuing it pushed me to work hard toward my other dreams. I’m nowhere near as good as I used to be but figure skating in Outdoor Voices has inspired me to try some of my old tricks – even if it’s awkward, slow or ends in my butt on the ice.

Hello Fall :: The Floral Transition Dress You Need

Happy First Monday of Fall, Y’all! While I’m very sad summer is officially over, I do love the start of a new season. I know it may still be quite warm where many of you live, so I want to talk about an easy transitional look. This is the floral transition dress you need to help ease into fall. This shirt dress has a classic silhouette with a very feminine and fun pattern. If this print looks familiar, it’s because I have silk wide-leg pants in the same print. It’s truly such a stunning print and is something you can wear for years to come. I’m wearing a size 00 here and the midi length is just perfect, especially with my heeled sandals. Plus, this dress has a huge upside: pockets! I cannot resist something with pockets.
