Hi Y’all! I’m so excited about today’s post. Many of you ask me how I get my hair to look so healthy and shiny. My secret? Don’t wash it. I’m very serious. I only wash my hair maybe once a week. To be honest, I can actually push it to 10 days, if I need to! In late 2011, I started training my hair and scalp to produce less oil. I knew washing it was stripping my hair of the natural oils it needed to be healthy and shiny. Easier said than done and this process required a ton of patience. Of course, there were dry shampoos back then, but not like today. Pantene has a full line-up of waterless shampoos and conditioners to help you extend the days between washing your hair in the shower. I’m going to share three hairstyles for when you don’t wash your hair that’ll help you hide oily roots but still look and feel great.

I love day-old hair. Freshly washed hair feels great but it’s not fantastic for styling. It’s usually super slick so nothing really holds. For the first few days, your hair is at its best post shampoo. Focus on wearing your hair down these days. I love soft and voluminous curls. In Texas, we have this saying: the higher the hair, the closer to heaven. It’s true. I use a 1.25″ curling iron on 1-inch sections to create soft, bouncy curls. Then, I tease my hair to get volume. Of course, this is my favorite out of the 3 hairstyles for when you don’t wash your hair.

If you find your hair doesn’t have enough texture on the first day, spray in some Pantene Never Tell Dry Shampoo for extra grip. I love this dry shampoo because it truly leaves no residue. Even after literally spraying this for about 10 seconds straight for that IG-worthy photo, I had no white on my hair!

DAYS 4-5: Half-Up Half Down Hairstyle

First off, congratulations on resisting the urge to jump in the shower and wash your hair. Grab your dry shampoo and give yourself a nice “wash” before styling it on days four through five. I like to lift a 2-inch wide section of hair and spritz the Pantene Never Tell Dry Shampoo from the root to almost the ends of your hair. Make sure you keep the bottle about six to eight inches from your hair. Do this throughout your whole head and when you’re done, use your fingers to tousle your hair. This helps the product absorb oil and gives you that fresh, weightless feeling.

Now, you’ve got a few oily spots most likely toward the crown or top of your head you’d like to conceal. Half-up half-down hairstyles are perfect for this! You still get the feminine feeling of wearing your hair down and you can curl it. But the oily parts stay hidden. I grab the top portion of my hair and secure it with a tiny hair elastic. Grab that portion and tease the heck out of it! Once it’s super fluffy, twist it into a bun and secure with bobby pins.

If you’ve made it this far, congratulations! It’s time to give your hair a break with a ponytail. Generously apply dry shampoo to your roots and then spirtz the ends of your hair with this Pantene Mist Behaving Dry Conditioner Mist to put some life back into it. This helps control frizz and smooths out your ends. Think of this as a mixture between leave-in conditioner and styling spray! Usually at this point, constantly curling my hair dries it out, so I love how Pantene has a conditioner you can spritz in to help keep your hair shiny.

You can slick your hair back into a ponytail and call it a day or add a braid for a feminine touch. If you plan on braiding your hair, make sure you tease the crown first, so it’s easier to pull into a ponytail with some volume later. I also like to gently pull on the braid once it’s finished to give it a looser, more organic feel. Plus, it also fluffs up the braid so you look like you have more hair. Who doesn’t want that? To jazz up my ponytail, I added a hair scrunchie that matches my cardigan.

This hairstyle is one of the easiest when it comes to three hairstyles for when you don’t wash your hair. The Pantene Waterless Collection is free of sulfate and parabens and will help you have great hair days during your non-wash days! Make sure you pick it up at HEB here!
