Feeling like the South of France feat. L’Occitane

First of all, traveling the world is definitely on my bucket list, but with my reporter job schedule and salary, it’s not exactly easy. The South of France is a big dream of mine. The beautiful beaches, rich culture and air of sophistication call out to me every time I see photos online. I’m evoking those feels a little closer to home with a sophisticated one-shoulder bikini top, matching bottoms and perfume. Scents can really transport us to a time or place, so I’m partnering with L’Occitane to bring me to the South of France. Their new Terre de Lumière collection is inspired by golden hour, a special time before the sun sets and a warm light blankets everything. The new perfume has zesty top notes, which I love. Plus, after a bit of wear, the perfume develops into aromas of lavender, honey and almond from the South of France.

My first introduction to L’Occitane came from my Dad. He brought home their famous hand creme for my Mom and I got to try some of it. As I got older, the more than 40-year brand became a name I trusted for skincare and fragrance. Their shea butter soap is one of my favs. Plus, I love L’Occitane’s dedication to plants and discovering ways to use natural ingredients in beauty products. However, I’m picky when it comes to perfumes and my collection only consists of two or three different scents. What I love about Terre de Lumière is it’s a warm scent but doesn’t feel heavy. While it has sensual notes and makes you feel sophisticated, it’s not overly powerful.

I brought the Terre de Lumière perfume and body lotion to a recent beach trip because I hate smelling like “outside.” If I really want a scent to last, I follow a few steps. First, use a scented shower gel. Second, apply body lotion to layer the scent on top. Finally, I spritz the perfume as I’m heading out the door. Since it can get pretty breezy at the beach, re-spritzing before heading to dinner is key for me. Another tip is to reapply the body lotion after reapplying sunscreen every couple hours.

Finally, to complete my South of France feels, I wore a luxe bikini to the beach. For my full review on this bikini go here. Also, I’m linking a few of my L’Occitane favorites below too 😉

Hello My Beautiful Friends!
Yellow is one of my favorite colors to wear, but finding the perfect shade can be difficult. I love a bright sunshine yellow. They say yellow is the color of joy and I must admit, when I wear yellow I am pretty happy! It can get quite hot and humid in coastal Virginia, so I love finding pieces that are light and airy. This yellow ruffled off the shoulder dress is just that. Plus, it’s only $15! This dress is lined, so don’t let the sheer fabric scare you. However, you probably want to wear nude seamless undergarments to be safe. Also, the yellow hue of this dress is so vibrant in person. I know it seems so bright in these photos, but in person, it’s even more beautiful.

Finally, let’s talk sizing. This dress doesn’t come in my usual XS, so I went with a small. Surprisingly, it fits me well. Of course, for those who are a true size small, do not worry this dress does not run small. However, if you are looking for more shape, I recommend a belt to cinch in the waist, giving that hourglass silhouette. The off the shoulder portion is stretchy while retaining staying power. As a result, don’t worry about it sliding on or off. That can be especially horrible with off the shoulder pieces!

Turquoise Off the Shoulder Bikini :: Beach Vibes

Turquoise Off the Shoulder Bikini Top + Bottoms (runs TTS
also available in a tropical print and one-piece version

Hello my beautiful friends! I’m bringing you beach vibes in this turquoise off the shoulder bikini. It is no surprise I am loving off the shoulder everything. Of course, this bikini is no exception. I love the bright turquoise color, which makes me dream of waters the same color. I wish the water coming up to Virginia Beach was clearer. The top of the bikini and edges of the bottoms have a white-stitch trim. I love this extra detail and I think it makes the suit so so cute! Plus, who can resist cute bikinis?

The bikini top is so comfortable. The part going over my arms didn’t feel restrictive and is stretchy. I have a small chest, so I love bikinis and swimsuits that give the illusion of more. The ruffles add extra volume and therefore are extremely flattering. Also, this bikini is padded, so that helps too. While I do prefer smaller cut bottoms including Brazilian, these cheeky cut bottoms are very flattering. I did not feel the need to adjust while wearing this suit. Plus, it was comfortable and did not ever feel like it was riding up. That’s a big bonus, right? Most of all, the quality of the fabric really caught my attention. Almost all swimsuits are stretchy, but this one really reminded me of the four-way stretch fabric my figure skating dresses were made of. Not to mention, the fabric is extremely soft.

This adorable off the shoulder bikini also comes in a tropical print. If bikinis aren’t really your thing, there is an adorable one-piece swimsuit in this beautiful turquoise color, too! I found similar bikinis in hot pink, red and yellow, too. I hope you enjoy catching some sun in these!
