My Beauty Must-Haves 2019

Some of my most-asked questions revolve around my beauty routine. Thanks to two different sales at Dermstore and Sephora going on right now, I’m excited to share 99.9 percent of my beauty routine is on SALE! Take advantage of this sale to get my beauty must-haves for 2019 at a discount.  Skincare and makeup can get expensive, so bookmark this post, pin, it save, it email it to yourself or friends, so you can always refer back to it when you’re looking to buy new products or target a problem.

This is going to be a long post because I really want to go in detail about what products I use. Dermstore’s sale lasts until August 25 and Sephora’s sale goes until August 27. Sephora’s sale is exclusively for Rouge and VIB members, which is why it pays to have a membership. Rouge gets 20% off and VIB gets 15% off. Similar to how I treat the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, go into your makeup/skincare counter and make an assessment. What do you need, what do you want? What is your budget? Create a list and then start shopping so you aren’t impulsively buying.

SKIN CARE

The foundation to any good makeup look is skin and having a good skin care regimen is crucial. I will stress I never, ever, go to sleep at night with my makeup on. I double cleanse (use a makeup remover and then cleanser) and then go through my skincare routine at night no matter how tired I am. These are some of my tried and true favorites. I know you’ll enjoy them too.

CLEANSING

DHC Deep Cleansing Oil: I just got this cleansing oil and I am in LOVE. Worth every penny! It’s so luxe, feels incredibly on my skin and removes all of the makeup on my face. The day literally melts off my face. I can’t stress enough how important it is to “double cleanse.” If you wear makeup, especially the kind I recommend below, you must remove it before you actually wash your race. Otherwise, you’re just washing off the makeup and not actually cleaning your pores and skin.
Dermalogica Pre Cleanse: Exactly what it sounds like. Use this before you cleanse to remove all the makeup from your face.  I love this cleansing oil for my current spring beauty regimen because of its lighter formula. I use one to two pumps.
Kopari Coconut Cleansing Oil: A more affordable and also clean beauty pick for cleansing oils. I’ll put three to four pumps into my hands, rub them together and massage over my face for about 30 seconds. I take care to be soft around the eyes but still making sure to get the makeup off my eyes, especially my lash glue!
Fresh Soy Face Cleanser: A gentle but effective face wash that won’t leave your skin feeling tight or dry. This cleanser has a gel consistency, which will leave your skin feeling supple and soft. But don’t be fooled – your skin will definitely be clean.
Purity Cleanser:  My holy grail cleanser for more than 11 years! I swear by this and if I don’t have a cleansing oil, I just cleanse with this twice for a super long period of time. This is one of the only cleansers that doesn’t dry out my face or make it feel tight and gets my face clean.

TREATMENT/EXFOLIATION

Drunk Elephant Exfoliator: This feels like fire ants are eating at your skin but when you rinse it off, your skin will be baby soft. I use this two to three times a week and leave it on for 20 minutes.
Tata Harper Resurfacing Mask: A new addition to my skincare routine after Sephora’s sale in April. This mask really helps get rid of that dead dull skin and reveals a fresh glow underneath. I use once a week for 20 minutes after cleansing. Trust me, your skin will glow right after you wash it off!Kate Sommerville Exfoliator: Dubbed the 2-minute Hollywood facial and with good reason. This was the first exfoliator I fell in love with and it’s still a favorite of mine. Gets rid of dull skin and reveals a fresher look underneath.
Sunday Riley UFO Oil: I don’t use this regularly but only when I’m traveling and start to break out beforehand. Living up to its name, this clarifies your skin and really stops breakouts from getting worse.
SK-II Facial Essence: Probably the first holy grail treatment product I found. Johnny and I have a bottle for when things go awry, like texture on our skin, redness or we get super oily. This also is fantastic for normalizing your skin and getting it balanced.

MOISTURIZE/SUNSCREEN

Peter Thomas Roth Cloud Cream: The texture and feel of this are truly unlike any other. It’s weightless and ultra-soft while providing long-lasting moisture. I started using this last summer and I can’t imagine life without it.
Laniege Eye Sleeping Mask: Apply this at night before bed, wake up with the skin around your eyes so soft you’ll wonder if skincare fairies came to visit while you were sleeping. I sometimes cheat and use this during the day too.
Ole Henriksen Banana Bright Eye Crème: The very first eye cream I actually love and enjoy using! I use this in the morning to brighten and help with any puffiness. It truly helps makeup glide on around the eye area and you’ll notice how much brighter your eyes are after applying!
Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen: Supergoop! sent me this to try last year and I instantly fell in love! The SPF 40 is crucial to protecting your skin from the harmful rays (full review here) and is completely clear! Makeup will glide right on like a dream.
Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask: My go-to when it comes to travel and when my skin feels tired or ultra dry. If I know I’m traveling (road trips count!), I’ll use this the night before and when I arrive at my destination to give my skin its moisture back. If it’s a long flight, I’ll use it on the plane. This really plumps up your skin, feels refreshing and leaves you glowing.
Peter Thomas Roth Cucumber De-Tox Eye Patches: Leave them in the fridge and apply on those mornings you can’t get out of bed or just feel beyond tired. The puffiness and bags under your eyes will thank you.

FOUNDATION

Estee Lauder Double Wear:  My holy grail foundation for every day. The coverage you get with this foundation is incredible and this tops my list when it comes to my fall beauty products. This foundation will last at least 10 hours and look incredible on! It’s not cakey at all. I use shades Spiced Sand and Cashew. Just make sure to set it with powder afterward.
La Mer Soft Fluid Foundation: A definite splurge and to be honest, I would not purchase this if it wasn’t on sale since the price tag is so high. However, you get the benefits of La Mer’s famous kelp broth in makeup. I use this for special occasions.
Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk – Nothing compares to the finish of this foundation. It truly looks like skin while giving incredible coverage. This is a must-have when it comes to fall my beauty products. My shade ranges from 6.5 to 7.5.
Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder: A beautiful foundation that’ll make your skin glow, truly. I love using this on days when I want a radiant glow to my makeup as opposed to a more matte finish. This glides on whether you use a brush or beauty blender. A definite favorite when it comes to my current spring beauty regimen. I wear shade Medium 7 when I’m tan.
Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Hydrating Longwear Foundation: A recent addition to my collection courtesy of the Fenty Beauty team. So far, I love the coverage and shade range! I actually held up three different shades to my face in our bathroom and had Johnny pick. He chose 250 and it is a perfect match for my summer skin right now! I don’t even have to blend it with another color, which is awesome. I would say you get about 6-8 hours of good wear with this foundation but it doesn’t last as long as the Estee Lauder.

PRIMER & SPF

Tatcha Silk Canvas: Snapped this up during the April Sephora sale and it is worth every penny! Definitely, a beauty must-have if you want your foundation to glide on and last all day. A little bit goes a long way and I love how it has Sephora’s green check.
Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen: Another product earning Sephora’s green check and what I use when I’m wearing a full face of makeup or on my no-makeup days! I have tried a lot of sunscreen over the years and when it comes to what goes on your face, this is hands down the best. I wrote a full blog post on it HERE.
Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch: A new addition to my beauty routine I’ve been using with the new Fenty foundation. Feels great on the skin and my foundation glides right on. I haven’t gotten a chance to test how much longer this extends my foundation but so far I like it a lot.

TINTED MOISTURIZER & CC CREAM

Supergoop! CC Cream: My new go-to on no makeup days! Love the lightweight coverage, sun protection and feel of this. Plus, it has Sephora’s clean beauty check. Doesn’t mean it’s the cleanest, but definitely a step in the right direction.
Charlotte Tilbury Unisex Healthy Glow: This offers awesome coverage and is great layered over sunscreen. It comes out gray but don’t be alarmed. It’ll match your skin and look flawless. I’ve been guilty of dotting this on Johnny’s face when we go to weddings to help with his Asian flush haha!
By Terry Lumi Serum: Worth every single penny! I mix this in with my Supergoop! CC cream if I’m tanner than the medium shade. Or, if I’m super tan, I’ll wear this alone. This provides the most incredible bronze glow without feeling heavy or cakey. You can also mix it in with your foundation for a super pretty glow. I couldn’t recommend this more.

CONCEALER

NARS Concealer: My go-to concealer because of how bright this makes my undereye look. The formula is such a goodie and sits well on top of foundation or just alone with tinted moisturizer for a light look.
HUDA BEAUTY Overachiever Concealer: This packs a lot of power! Very opaque yet also easy to blend. This is my current go-to when it comes to concealer because of how it truly brightens under the eyes and helps highlight my face. I use shade 10 coconut flakes.
Charlotte Tilbury Retoucher: This concealer is like magic. The Charlotte Tilbury team sent this to me to try and I gotta say, it really plumps under the eyes! I love how it really moisturizes under the eyes as opposed to drying it out like many other concealers. I use shade 3 medium.

POWDER

Charlotte Tilbury Powder: My favorite powder to use hands down, especially if I’m going to be photographed. This truly gives you an airbrush finish and your skin will look flawless. I use the color medium. This is also one of my go-to fall beauty products when I travel since it’s compact.
Lawless Setting Powder: A clean beauty favorite, this setting powder will keep you shine-free all day long. I love this for under the eyes.
La Mer Powder: So exorbitantly expensive but I’m going to give it a try because my friend who is a makeup artist swears by this. I’ll keep you posted!

BLUSH/BRONZER

Anastasia Beverly Hills Bronzer: I’ve been using this bronzer for contouring for years. I love shades Terracota and Earth.
Kevyn Aucoin Sculpting Powder: The only thing I’ll use to contour my nose, ha! I use shade medium and it is perfect for really sculpting the face. I use a pencil brush to really get a thin line and then blend it in afterward.
NARS Blush: A cult classic I have been using for years. I love shades Amour and Orgasm.
Tarte Blush: The color paaarty is the perfect pinky nude blush. Love it for summer with a little highlight.
Charlotte Tilbury Contour Wand: Fantastic for contouring and really sculpting the face right after foundation and concealer. The color doesn’t look muddy or dirty on the face but looks like a natural shadow.

EYES

EYESHADOW

HUDA BEAUTY Obsessions Palette: The mauve palette is a must get for your spring beauty regimen. These colors will complement any eye color and keep you on trend. The shadows are opaque, very easy to apply and blend.
Viseart Palette:  Definitely on the pricy end but I promise you if you purchase this palette, you won’t need any other. My main travel palette has every color you’ll ever need. Plus, I can use the gray and brown shades to fill in my brows.
Urban Decay Palette:  A great price point with all matte colors, this palette is a dream! Perfect for spring and into summer.

ETC

Kat Von D Liner: My holy grail eyeliner. You need this. End of discussion. I always have at least two or three on me because I can’t live without it.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow: I have been using this on my brows for years. It’s perfect for filling them in and keeping your hairs in place. I use the color Ash Brown and it’s perfect.
Eyebrow Gel: I use this when I don’t have time to really fill in my brows but need to do something. Love the brown color as it blends seamlessly.
HUDA Beauty Lashes: I’m very picky about what lashes I can wear since I’ve become more allergic to most false lashes. These feel comfortable, give a bit of drama but don’t look unnatural. I love Olivia and Samantha lashes.
HUDA Beauty Lash Glue: This isn’t part of the sale but I get asked about it all the time so I’m linking it here! I have an unhealthy obsession with this lash glue and it’s no longer available in the United States. I basically import three of them from across the pond. The shipping is exorbitant but if you buy at least three tubes, it’s worth it. This glue comes off cleanly in strips and it’s so easy! No more lashes falling apart because you’re trying to get all of the glue off. This glue is honestly a gamechanger!

LIPS

LIPSTICK

Too Faced Liquid Lipstick: Hands down my favorite lip product and has been for two years. I have the colors Cool Girl, Child Star and Sell Out. These last forever and I can eat, drink and still trust when I go on air at 11 pm, I still look good. The color Cool Girl is a favorite for my fall beauty products.
Charlotte Tilbury Hot Kips 2: Stunning shades in a gorgeous re-fillable container. The formula is moisturizing and lasts quite a while. I love how you can buy refills when you run out and avoid creating waste. I love Glowing Jen, Dance Floor Princess and In Love with Olivia.
Charlotte Tilbury Kissing Lipstick: If you’re looking for a classic lipstick you can always turn to, this is it! Moisturizing, easy to apply and long-lasting. My favorite shades are Penelope Pink and Bitch Perfect.
HUDA BEAUTY Liquid Matte Lipstick: A great liquid lipstick and available in tons of colors. The formula isn’t drying either. Love how there is a matching lip liner.
Fenty Beauty Mattemoiselle Plush Lipstick: A new addition courtesy of the Fenty Beauty team and I love the formula on this! I currently am using the shade THICC, which is perfect for fall but also want to try S1ngle.

LIP LINER

Charlotte Tilbury Pencil: One of my favorite pencils because of how creamy it is. The color pillow talk is a cult classic and a favorite when it comes to my spring beauty regiment. You can even just line your lips, apply lip balm and head out the door!
BITE Beauty Lip Pencil: Already on sale for $9 and now you can get at least an extra 10% off! I use shade 010 and 008.
HUDA Beauty: The formula is so easy to apply and really stays put. Gossip Gurl is my go-to shade.

TOOLS OF THE TRADE

Not all of the products listed below are going to be on sale but I wanted to share them with y’all because I always get questions about what brushes I use! I use a few different brands but the ones below are my go-to’s.

Foundation Brush:  The holy grail when it comes to foundation brushes. This brush may not look special but it will apply your makeup without any streaks. I couldn’t imagine applying makeup without it or my favorite sponge.
Beauty Blender:  You have to get this and you have to use it wet. I have tried similar ones and they are just not as good. I use this to smooth out my concealer, cream contour and more.
Bronzer Brush: No explanation needed. I use this for applying bronzer and contour on my face. Super soft and I love the rose gold detail on the handle.
Under Eye Brush: I use this to set my concealer under my eyes and to apply the Charlotte Tilbury powder.
Eyebrow Brush: What I use to apply any brow products, whether it’s Dipbrow or powder.
Rose Quartz Roller:  I use this every night and in the morning if I have time. Use it in upward motions because our skin is like shingles. This really pushes the product into your skin.
Sensor Mirror: I have used this mirror since 2014 and couldn’t imagine doing makeup without it. The magnification can be a little scary but it really helps you apply your makeup flawlessly! I love the new collection because it comes in gold and rose gold.
