Oddly enough, our guest bedroom is one of the first rooms we really went all out in. We chose a vibrant color for our board and batten, added wallpaper and for a while didn’t do much else. I remember initially wanting all-white bedding since I felt like anything more would overwhelm the small room. However, I saw this bedding come back in stock and I knew that was the direction to go in! For us, we want our guests to have a special room where they feel comfortable. Here’s some guest room ideas that are bold and inviting!
All sources for our guest bedroom will be at the end of this post!
Start with a Statement
I would pick one, or at most two, thing to be the statement of the room. For us, it was without a doubt the blue board and batten. It stands out and you really cannot miss it. This is the boldest part of our room and we love how it’s so different from the rest of our home. Once you figure out what the statement or bold part of the room is you can work from there. We wanted to have an ocean and sky effect in this room so we chose this gorgeous cloud wallpaper. You don’t have to go crazy with paint to have a statement. It can be a striking chandelier, a bold headboard or even a geometric rug.
It wasn’t until I saw this organic cotton bedding restock I knew this would be perfect to make this room really bold and inviting. I love this botanical print and you can use code HKCUNG15 to get 15% off. The blue doesn’t perfectly match, but it’s close enough. In fact, I think that’s something I actually enjoy and appreciate. They play off well and add a little bit of that color-matching I do for outfits when wearing a print.
Layer In Neutrals
All guest room ideas should include neutrals to keep the room from getting too busy. I generally went with white in this room to play off the cloud wallpaper. I love crisp white bedding, so that’s no surprise there. Using white euro shams, a white duvet with simple navy embroidery and white nightstands gives your eyes a visual break from the color and pattern.
Even though we have a printed wallpaper, it is a neutral color so it also lets the eye rest as you are taking in the room.
Add a Personal Touch
I love when guest bedrooms and hotels have a personal touch. A friend painted this gorgeous Dallas skyline more than a decade ago and hanging it in our guest bedroom was the perfect touch. It reminds our guests where they are and since it was made by a friend has that sentimental value.
