J.Crew makes some of my favorite fall and winter must-haves, including wool coats and cashmere sweaters. Right now they are offering a huge 40% off select fall styles but honestly, almost everything is included. This is the time to buy cozy sweaters and warm coats for the fall and winter. Yes, there are sweaters and coats out there for less money but they are not wool, cashmere and will not keep you warm. When buying coats and sweaters, pay attention to the fabric. Is it mostly polyester or cotton? That’s probably better suited for a warmer climate. Wool and cashmere are incredible fabrics because they have tiny air pockets that react to your body temperature and circulate heat close to your body. So, if it’s hot, wool is still breathable and keeps you cool but if it’s hot, it’ll keep you nice and warm without making you sweat!

I’m going to break this post down into categories, coats, sweaters, workwear and then casual pieces. I own a lot of J.Crew and amassed my collection over the years. Their pieces are truly incredible quality for the price and will last. My very first wool J.Crew coat is more than 10 years old and looks new!

COATS

COCOON COAT

SIZE: Petite 00, slightly boxy fit, great for those with a bigger chest or want some room in the chest and arm area.
REVIEW: J.Crew’s most popular wool coat and one of my personal favorites! This year it’s available in six gorgeous colors, including the classics such as gray, camel and black. This coat has a slightly boxy cut and is made of stadium-cloth wool, which adds warmth without the bulk. This coat will keep you warm no matter how low the temperatures go. I love how there is room in this fit for thick sweaters or work blazers underneath! You won’t feel restricted in this like a few of the other silhouettes, which are a bit more form-fitting. There are plenty of roomy pockets, too! While this coat can work for Petites, it’s not the most petite friendly.

LODGE COAT

SIZE: Petite 00/0, slim and straight silhouette and can be a little tight in the arm area. Buy your size for a snug fit, size up one for a little wiggle room.
REVIEW: A fantastic cozy wool coat with ribbed trim at the neck and cuffs. This coat has that perfect slim and fitted look but is incredibly warm! It has a quilted super-fill lining so you’re sure to stay toasty regardless of the weather. This is the sister coat to the best-selling cocoon coat above but with a slimmer fit. If you are petite, I highly recommend this coat as it won’t be as overwhelming as the cocoon! Plus, it’s perfect for wearing to work and casually. You won’t regret this choice! Easily one of my favorite fall and winter must-haves.

DAPHNE TOPCOAT

SIZE: Petite 00, has a slightly oversized look but still works for petite ladies.
REVIEW: I tried this coat on last year during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale but didn’t end up keeping it because I wanted to save money for a new J.Crew lady coat, which unfortunately isn’t on sale right now. However, it is less expensive than the other two options and is fantastic for work and weekends. It’s made of a super cozy boiled wool, which is tightly woven for extra warmth without the bulk.

MOCKNECK SWEATER

SIZE: XXS/XS, fits true to size. Get your size for a slimmer fit, size up one size for a slightly looser, cozier fit.
REVIEW: I got two of these last year and have fallen in love! This sweater is easily one of my fall and winter must-haves. A beautiful blend of merino wool, alpaca and stretch fabric make this mockneck sweater a fall and winter dream! Beyond soft and so warm, you can style this sweater for workwear, weekends and anything in between. I love the mockneck because you won’t need a scarf to keep your neck warm. It comes in tons of colors!

REVIEW: This sweater is made of the same material as the mockneck above but in a cute crewneck with three buttons on one side. Another sweater perfect for work and for the weekend. Colorwise, I’m interested in the wild petunia!

MERINO WOOL SWEATER

REVIEW: A fantastic sweater that’s a great for wearing to work because it’s thin but very warm. Merino wool is one of my favorite fabrics. I love the one with the lace collar because it’s so chic and feminine. This sweater comes in a ton of colors and prints.

PARKE BLAZER

SIZE: Petite 00, fits true to size. Perfect over blouses, dresses and thin sweaters. Size up if you want to wear over thick sweaters.
REVIEW: My favorite blazer, ever. I got this a few months ago and cannot believe I didn’t purchase it sooner. It’s such a great investment for work and also casual looks. It’s wool, so it’s a quality piece that’ll last for years, if not decades. Plus, you can throw it over anything and look great. Keep in mind, not all versions of this blazer are on sale, but the wool and velvet ones are! Those are my picks for fall and winter must-haves, anyway.
