4 Ways to Wear Yellow this Spring

4 Ways to Wear Yellow on Color & Chic Blog

Yellow is without a doubt one of my favorite colors to wear. However, it’s not exactly easy for many people to grab a yellow garment off the rack and have it complement their skin color. In this post, I want to share a few yellow pieces I love and feel would compliment a wide variety of skin tones. Essentially, four ways to wear yellow this spring. While none of these are my preferred shade of yellow to wear, they are still beautiful. My favorite yellow to wear is a the same color as petals of a sunflower.  I’m sharing a mix of dresses, tops and even a fun jumpsuit. Spring is such a fun season when it comes to fashion and I hope this helps you find the right yellow piece for you!

Of course, having a tan does help with wearing yellow. If you’re interested in the products I use to achieve a tan at home, head to this blog post and scroll to the bottom, where the header says “body.” I do believe there are shades of yellow those who have fair skin can wear, so let’s get started.

Marigold Polka Dot Jumpsuit

A deeper yellow that’s very flattering to a lot of skin tones, this polka dot jumpsuit is something you can throw on and walk out the door in. Even if you have a fair complexion, this color would really pop and not make you look ghostly. If you’re fair, I recommend looking for more warm-toned yellows, which will complement your complexion. Anything cool-toned will wash you out.

Polka dots are always super fun to wear and I appreciate the loose and easy-going feel of this one. I’m wearing size XS and the length and waist fit great. The v-neck is a little low on my petite body but that can easily be fixed by adding a snap button or using a safety pin. The wide leg of this jumpsuit is nice and flowy, which will keep you cool in warm weather.

Ruffle Neckline Tweed Dress

The perfect dress for graduation, bridal or baby showers and so much more for your spring and summer social calendar. This is a mellow buttery shade of yellow best for those with a tan or medium skin tone. The lighter or paler the shade of yellow, the darker you want your skin to be. This way the pale shade feeds off your bronze glow. This is probably one of my favorite of the four ways to wear yellow this spring.

The ruffle neckline of this dress is what caught my attention. I love how you can wear it higher like I am here or push it flat like how the model has it on. Plus, the ruffles continue down into a scoop in the back of the dress. I’m wearing size Petite 0 and the fit is perfect. The length hits right at my knees, making this dress appropriate for more conservative functions.

Keyhole Halter Neck Dress

A slightly brighter yellow than the dress above this halter dress can be worn casually and dressed up. If you look closely, you’ll see a fun print on this dress. Love this for tanner complexions but would work if you have the smallest glow, too. The elastic waistband on this dress makes it easy to wear and so comfortable. The halter neckline is completely adjustable. Another way to wear this dress is with a jean jacket and sneakers. I’m wearing this dress with sandals but you can dress it up with heels.

Gold Eyelet Blouse

Perfect for those who are fair or don’t have a base tan. This eyelet blouse is a beautiful gold color that’s very flattering for multiple complexions. I’m pretty tan in these photos and it doesn’t blend too much. Gold can be a hard color to wear but this particular shade is the perfect mix of warm and cool tones. Pair it with trousers for work or denim for the weekend like I am here.

This blouse happens to be on sale, too! I’m wearing size XX-Small for reference and appreciate the tie waist. The neckline isn’t too low either, which I appreciate. This particular blouse style pairs better with longer bottoms but you can tuck it into high-waisted skirts, too!
