Dallas is an ever-changing city. I love its fast pace and whenever I come home to visit, things are always different. Even if I leave for two months! Bird Bakery, owned by Elizabeth Chambers and Armie Hammer, opened a Dallas location November. I’ve heard incredible things about it, so it was on my list of places to visit. Nestled in Highland Park Village, it’s next to my coffee shop which is also where Johnny works out of while his office space is being completed in Downtown Dallas. More on Bird Bakery below. When I think of winter classics, the colors red and gray instantly come to mind. Red is so festive and is a favorite to wear, even once Christmas is over. I usually stick to cashmere and wool during winter, but this gray dress is made of an extremely soft knit plush jersey. This dress is currently on sale for less than $30 and is surprisingly warm. I adore the mock neck because I can layer this dress over my favorite cashmere shells. Many of my winter dresses are gray, so if you’re looking for a dress that’ll make it to your winter classics wardrobe, this gray one will definitely be one you love for years to come.

Plus, another aspect I love is how the sleeves come with thumbholes! Talk about a game changer during winter when you’re putting on coats or your wrists get cold. My Mom tells me the wrists are super important to staying warm. Large arteries pass close to the skin at your wrists, so if you keep them warm, you will be warm too. Who knew?

My scarf collection is steadily growing. I enjoy adding one or two to my collection each winter. Of course, I purge and give away or sell the ones I no longer wear. I think it’s important to only keep what you love. This reversible scarf caught my eye because the two patterns are such winter classics. Red buffalo check and a smaller black and white plaid go so well together. You could wear this scarf as one or the other, but I love the dimensional look when you can see both. This scarf would be great over any neutral, including white/cream, gray, black or even red. Not to mention, it’s uber cozy, qualifying it for my list of winter classics.

Without a doubt, Bird Bakery is one of the cutest bakeries ever. Marble countertops, lush and colorful cakes on display, and a huge neon ‘Let Them Eat Cake’ sign are part of the posh decor. When I visited during the lunch rush, the place was packed. They serve quiches, a wide selection of breads (hello Nutella bread!) and yummy pastries. For lunch, they are known for their delicious sandwiches. The cupcakes come in 16 flavors. Pictured above from top left to right, I got fresh coconut, fresh strawberry, BIRD blue vanilla, luscious lemon, black and white and the sixth item is actually raspberry pecan muffin.
