From a young age, my Mom expressed the importance of a good skincare routine. To me, it was very simple: you are what you eat and what you do. Watch what you put into your body, use good skincare products and your skin will take care of itself. I’m also a beauty junkie. I love researching and trying new products. Learning about new products, how they are made and where they are from is so fun to me. However, through DMs on Instagram and emails, I’m hearing figuring out the right skincare routine can be extremely overwhelming. What products to get, what order to apply them in, how long until results start showing up?
I’m excited to share the winter skincare routine that will get you remarkable results. At least, it did for me. Everyone’s skin is different, but the rave reviews from those of you who have tried these products are highly encouraging! I believe this is something everyone should at least try if you struggle with your skin and that’s affecting your confidence. It’s my sincere hope and goal to help each of you become more confident in every aspect of your life. If a new product I recommend can do that, then I’ve done my job!
Before we get started, I want to say it’s crucial to be consistent. Sticking to a routine every single day will get your remarkable results. Feel free to print out the chart above or screenshot and save it to your phone. This is the best order to apply your skincare products and will help make sure you don’t skip a step! It may look like a lot, but once you get in the swing of things, these steps will fly by! Remember, consistency is key, so going through each step every day will make a difference in your skin. This will play a huge role in getting remarkable results from this winter skincare routine.
NIGHT SKINCARE
1. REMOVE MAKEUP
I swear by cleansing oils to remove my makeup. Makeup wipes are the worst thing you can use to cleanse your skin. I kind of think of them as fake skin care since they are made to make you feel like you’re doing something right when you’re actually inflicting more harm on your skin. Makeup wipes are not cleaning your skin, they are really just moving and smearing around all the makeup, dead skin cells and dirt already on your face. Add to that, the process of moving the wipe around your face is irritating it. I am so vehemently against using wipes, I don’t even own them. I know they sound like a great “in an emergency” solution, but I would honestly rather crawl on all fours to the sink and wash my face properly. I’m so trained to properly taking off my makeup, I cannot sleep without it.

[/one_half][one_half_last]If makeup wipes are out of the question, what should you use? I highly recommend cleansing oils. I’ve used them since I was about 17-years-old. The DHC Cleansing Oil is my favorite and what I’ve been using for the past few months. I use one and a half pumps for my entire face. I rub it between my hands and then onto my face. I do my eyes last since there’s usually eyeliner and lash glue involved. Then, I rinse it off with warm water. Another makeup remover I just got is this Elemis Cleansing Balm. I’ve heard rave reviews so I got it for when I travel.[/one_half_last]2. CLEANSE SKIN
[one_half]
Now that you’ve taken off your makeup, it’s important to actually cleanse your skin. I’ve been using this SkinCeuticals Purifying Cleanser and love how the glycolic acid exfoliates my skin while being gentle. Plus, it’s pH balanced so your skin doesn’t feel tight afterward. It’s so important to double cleanse. This is a crucial step in my winter skincare routine that will get you remarkable results. Especially if you wear makeup, you need to actually take it off to be able to actually cleanse your skin afterward and get it clean. You really can’t skip either step if you wear makeup. Other cleansers I love are this LHA one and Philosophy Purity.

[/one_half_last]3. TONER
[one_half]I’m going to be honest: for the longest time, I thought I didn’t need toner. Wow, was I wrong. Toner delivers a quick dose of hydration to your face after cleansing and preps your skin for the skincare products you’re about to apply to it. However, you need to apply within a minute of cleansing your skin for it to take full effect. It’s like a primer for your serums and moisturizers. I’ve been using the SkinCeuticals LHA Toner and it helps with clogged pores to keep my skin clear. I apply using a cotton pad both morning and night. [/one_half]

[/one_half_last]4. EYE CREAM
The area under your eyes doesn’t produce moisture on its own, so you have to help it out! I’ve been using the Laneige Eye Sleeping Mask for a few months and really enjoy it! Another eye cream I’ve heard great things about is the First Aid Beauty Five in One Eye Cream.
5. TREATMENT
Here’s where we get into the good stuff. I use SkinCeuticals Blemish + Age Defense to prevent any adult acne while also defending against wrinkles. A powerful mix of dioic acid with alpha and beta hydroxy acids keeps blemishes at bay while evening out your skin tone. It unclogs pores, prevents excess sebum production and prevents dark spots from the sun. For more on why I swear by this product, check out my skincare story here.
6. MOISTURIZER
[one_half]
[/one_half][one_half_last]A winter skincare routine that will get your remarkable results has to include a good moisturizer. I have very dry skin, so I’ve tried quite a few moisturizers over the years. I’m currently using BeautyBio The Quench, which is cruelty-free and has done wonders for my skin. What’s special about this moisturizer is it has linoleic acid, which prevents moisture loss. I think we could all use this during winter! Other good moisturizers I love include Peter Thomas Roth Green Releaf Sleep Cream and Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Cream.[/one_half_last]
7. LIP MASK
Every night, I take a little time for my lips so they are soft and moisturized the next day. I use a lip scrub if my lips are dry and flakey then use either the L’Occitane Lip Balm or the Laniege Lip Mask. I literally can’t go to sleep with my lips dry, so I never skip this step!
MORNING SKINCARE
The idea of having a morning skincare routine may sound like another thing to do during a chaotic morning, but I encourage to take this time for yourself. Starting off the day doing something calming and relaxing can give you back the sense of control and add confidence. Plus, the steps will seem like second-nature once you’ve built up the habit.
Since I shared a thorough night skincare routine, I’m only going to share the different products I do in the morning. My morning regimen for my winter skincare routine has the same seven steps with just a few changes. I start with the same cleanser and toner.
ANTIOXIDANT SERUM
[one_half]
[/one_half][one_half_last]In late September, I started using SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic serum and it’s been a game-changer. If you aren’t already using a vitamin C serum, you need to. My skin is plump, glowing and softer than its ever been. After just two weeks, I could see a visible difference in my skin. You can read my in-depth review of this serum on this post. I apply three drops, one on each cheek and my forehead and press it into my skin. If you want, you can use a rose quartz or jade roller to really help it absorb. Make sure to only roll in upward motions. [/one_half_last]
SUNSCREEN
[one_half]I can’t stress enough how important protecting your skin is. Sunscreen needs to be worn every single day. It’s wild what rays can do to your skin. I hate white flash, so I have tried a lot of sunscreens to find the perfect one. Supergoop’s Unseen Sunscreen is my absolute favorite because you can’t see it and it also acts like an incredible primer for makeup! Don’t forget to apply to your neck and on your chest too, especially if your skin is exposed.[/one_half]
