My lips are one of my favorite features. I love how they can express how you feel whether you’re speaking or with the lip color you’re wearing. I communicate and am a storyteller for a living, so it’s no surprise I love what our lips can do. However, they can be sensitive and if we don’t properly care for them; they will rebel by flaking and peeling. Even though I have run a very tight ship, I take time every night to properly care for my lips. This is how I keep my lips soft. There’s nothing wrong with setting aside time to reset, rebalance and put wellness first. This way, whether I’m going for my signature nude or feeling bold with brighter colors, they are soft and moisturized. Since summer is officially underway, it’s even more important to properly care for our lips. I’m excited to partner with L’Occitane to share my reset routine for my lips.
Step 1: Lip Scrub
If you have dry, chapped lips, or they peel, you have to start using lip scrubs! These are a lifesaver and truly slough off all that dead skin leaving behind soft, smooth lips. That said, not all lip scrubs are created equal. You don’t want to use one that’ll be too abrasive or harsh for your lips since they are so sensitive. The L’Occitane Raspberry Crush Delicious Lip Scrub has vitamin C and E to make sure your lips are feeling soft after all the dead skin cells are removed. Plus, it smells absolutely yummy.
There are some other scents and flavors, too. However, I’m a little partial to the raspberry.
Step 2: Lip Balm
Once I rinse off my scrub, I go in with a rich lip balm. I really enjoy the 3-In-1 Delicious Multi-Balm because it moisturizes, nourishes and protects. You can use it after a scrub as an overnight mask to wake up to soft lips. During the day, I love using it as a primer before lip liner and lipstick. It’ll keep your lips moisturized for hours and made of a blend of botanical oils from pomelo, carrot and pomegranate.
I also want to add, it is so important to use a lip balm when your lips are dry. Licking them only makes it worse! Resist the urge and get your hands on a balm. I love keeping one in my purse, by my bed and in my work bag so I’m always covered. L’Occitane also launched some other tinted balms, too – which I’ve linked below!
Step 3: Fruity Lipstick
I’m pretty loyal to nude lips but this fruity lipstick is slowly changing my mind. In the summer, I don’t mind mixing things up and being a little bold. This fruity lipstick in Pink Biscotin has a hint of pink and looks so natural on. I love this for summer if I’m doing a minimal makeup look or even if I’m wearing a full face. I love how it both moisturizes and adds color. You can easily build up the intensity of the color, too. Plus, this formula gets two thumbs up because it’s vegetarian-friendly and free from silicone and animal derivative ingredients.
