Happy first day of spring y’all! Cherry blossoms are in full bloom in Hampton Roads and I couldn’t be happier. Today, I want to talk about styling wardrobe basics for spring. As I get older, I am starting to create a capsule wardrobe where there are pieces I can restyle season after season. While it is fun to get new clothes, it can get expensive quickly. I’m only about three years into my career, so I love finding clothes I can wear for multiple seasons and for years and years.
First up, I want to talk about big time basics: t-shirts. I only own about three, but that’s plenty for me. I own two crew necks and one v-neck. This blush v-neck tee is super soft and wears incredibly well. It has been in the wash countless times and comes out looking like a champ. I love the subtle heather look to it and the pocket tee. The great part about styling wardrobe basics is your ability to make an outfit dressy or casual. I am taking the slightly dressy option here. Opting for heels and nice jewelry can take an outfit a long way, especially into the night or for a fancy brunch. During the day, I love wearing just the tee and doing a half-tuck.
At night, when the weather gets chilly I reach for my trusty leather jacket. I love this drape leather jacket in army green because it pairs well with a multitude of colors. Dark green and blush pink are one of my favorite color combos! You can throw a great leather jacket over anything, whether it’s a professional work dress or a little black dress.
Another basic item everyone should have in their closet is a great pair of jeans. These super soft legging-like jeans are in constant rotation right now. This wash goes with both dark and light colors. The rips are in the perfect spot for petite ladies, too. Styling wardrobe basics with the perfect pair of jeans is super easy since you know you have something you can trust. All you have to do is pick out a top and you’re good to go!
The final item I want to mention as part of my wardrobe basics is a great pair of neutral heeled sandals. During spring and summer, I heavily rely on these for both work and play. I just got these chunky heel sandals and I could not be happier. They are extremely comfortable and easy to walk in. I wear these all day at work when I’m out in the field and my feet don’t hurt at all. Whether you are wearing a romper, jeans, or a fancy dress, these heels will complete your outfit this spring.
