My Fitness Secret :: Indoor to Outdoor Voices

Hello Everyone! Staying fit, strong and healthy is a goal for almost everyone. I’ll be the first to admit, I’m wildly lucky in that department. I have good genes, plus more than 11 years of competitive figure skating really shaped a good active lifestyle for me. I’m partnering with Outdoor Voices today to share a few of my fitness secrets. I wish when I skated, these cool athletic brands and clothes existed!

Outdoor Voices is brand believing in doing things, whether that’s yoga, a full-on workout or something recreational with friends and family. They make clothes for sweating in no matter the activity or time of year. The texture in the ultra soft fabric hides sweat while wicking it away. The fabric is unlike anything I have ever felt. It is unbelievably soft and I could stay in in it forever. Plus, you can wear them in the gym or in real life. 

While home in Dallas, I got the opportunity to pop into their store off Travis Street. Full of light and inspiration to make you start #DoingThings, it is a fun store to be in and shop. Outdoor Voices’ signature collection is rooted in four core fabrics and a neutral palette anyone can wear. Y’all know I am a sucker for anything gray. I instantly knew I wanted the Tri-Tone Slashback Crop. I tried on the 3/4 legging in dove and ash. While I love both, the 3/4 two-tone warm up legging was my favorite. Plus, it also goes with the slashback crop perfectly. A great way to save is to buy the OV Warm-Up Kit, which includes the slashback top and a 3/4 legging. There are also kits available for cooling down and for men.

When it comes to fitness, nowadays I am more low-key. I focus on a mix of body-weight exercises, lifting and cardio. However, my secret for long-lean muscles is to stretch. I cannot stress how important this is before and after a workout, even if you only do cardio for 20 minutes. Starting with lower-body stretches, I do the basic hamstring and quad stretches. Hold each stretch for 10 seconds and do them three times each. I know it sounds like a lot, but it makes a huge difference. Before a workout, your muscles need to warm up. Afterward, cooling down is essential.

Flexibility is key to maintaining a range of motion in your joints. Without stretching, muscles will shorten and become tight. This makes them prone to injury. Not to mention if you are not stretching your lower body properly, it could lead to back problems. Trust me, those are no fun. One of my favorite stretches is the one directly below. I feel like it really stretches out your legs, plus your booty. And gives me a chance to loosen my back.
