Velvet is one of my favorite winter fabrics and I don’t think that’s going to change any time soon. I remember when I was first introduced to velvet. I was maybe 9-years-old and standing in the workroom of a woman who makes competitive figure skating dresses. I was getting my very first custom “big girl” dress and I couldn’t be more excited! My dress was made of a rich dark purple stretch velvet, complete with rhinestones. Nearly two decades later, I’m still in love with the fabric and try to wear it plenty of times each winter. One of my favorite winter trends is to wear velvet flats. I think they really can jazz up an outfit and add a touch of glam. Of course, velvet flats are also extremely comfortable and a great alternative to heels for parties.

These green velvet flats from Sole Society are quite festive, which makes them perfect for winter. I love the classic almond-shaped toe and how this particular style comes in three colors. I’m opting for green because it’s a festive color but not as popular as red. Of course, my favorite aspect of these velvet flats are the embellishments. I love the crystals and intricate embroidery, which really take these velvet flats up a notch! To make it more of a holiday look, I’m pairing these velvet beauties with a green blazer dress. This is also a great work option, too! However, you can also style them casually with jeans and a sweater. Don’t shy away from bright colors, including green, in the winter. You can wear these with neutrals of course, but also other colors such as blue, red, yellow and pink!
