Feminine Watercolors :: Printed Sale Dress + Review

Hello, Everyone!
H&M has been a newfound favorite of mine since moving to New York City. It’s an inexpensive way to add multiple things to my wardrobe and try new pieces I wouldn’t normally break the bank for. However, when shopping with a dear friend Saturday, I saw this dress on sale for only $20! After using a promotional giftcard I received when I purchased my Seafoam dress, this watercolored wonder was $15! Talk about looking great on a budget!

Onto my review:
The positives first, of course. This dress is made of pretty good quality. The fabric is thick and feels as if liquids would roll off of it pretty easily, so stains shouldn’t be too much of an issue. The material itself is very smooth and has a satin-like feel to it. This dress won’t deteriorate  heavily in the wash, so it’ll hold up for multiple seasons, if not years.

The fit of this dress is heavenly. It’s extremely rare to find a dress which will fit my body like an elegant glove. No alterations will be needed here! The dress is perfectly snug around my waist and hips, but isn’t tight enough to earn “downtown” status. I highly recommend this dress for all the petite ladies out there.

The print looks like delicate watercolors from a tropical location and the colors go very well together. I’m a big fan of the blue tossed in amidst the more feminine colors. I feel this makes the dress less “little girl” like and more sophisticated and ready for the big world. I could easily see myself wearing this dress to the office, a nice brunch or to a day party.

However, there are a couple negatives to this lovely dress. The fabric, while thick, doesn’t stretch. The zipper that’s more than a whole foot in length doesn’t seem to really aide my journey into the dress. The first time I tried to get into the dress, I heard a few threads pop, but I couldn’t find them when the dress came off. Speaking of taking the dress off, this is another difficult task. As mentioned earlier, this dress fits perfectly in all the right places, however since the fabric isn’t stretchy, getting out of the dress took quite a bit of strategizing. I’m sure the next time I wear the dress I’ll be more familiar with how to get in and out.

Another negative about the dress is how tight the lining of the dress can cling to your body on a hot day. I wouldn’t recommend wearing this dress on days where you know you’ll be perspiring in the least bit. The lining will glue itself to your skin and you’ll feel pretty uncomfortable, or at least, I did. However, on a cooler day (probably around or under 83 degrees) this dress is a godsend.

Thank you so much for stopping by!
