My skin does not respond well to the cold, which is why I try to get ahead of any dry skin in winter and fall. I personally find it’s easier to prevent issues than treat them once they’ve come up. Over the years, I’ve put together an arsenal of products that help my skin stay hydrated no matter the weather. I use most if not all of these year round, and appreciate them most when the air is cold and dry!
SkinCeuticals H.A. Intensifier
In our more moderate climate, I apply SkinCeuticals H.A. Intensifier every other day, but when went on a few trips to colder climates at the beginning of the year, I used it daily. Because the purpose of hyaluronic acid is to hydrate, it’s amazing for preventing dry skin in winter especially. I can truly say it’s helped my skin retain moisture, and I also appreciate that it will reduce signs of aging as I get older.
Supergoop! Glowscreen SPF 40
Even if the weather is dreary and you’re inside, sunscreen is still a must! UV rays can come through your windows and the blue light of your screens can be harmful as well. I love that Glowscreen is incredibly hydrating and also has a sunkissed, pearlescent finish that wakes up paler winter skin.
Jo Malone Wood Sage & Sea Salt Body Creme
This body butter is incredible. It’s SO rich and truly nourishes the skin. Jo Malone is known for having really dynamic, indulgent scents, and Wood Sage & Sea Salt is one of their most iconic. It’s such a great way to make your whole day a little more luxurious.
Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Moisturizing Cream
You all know what a fan I am of Kiehl’s and this moisturizing cream. If you have dry skin in winter or fall, it’s a must have! It’s very hydrating, but it’s incredibly lightweight and absorbs very quickly. You don’t need much, so it lasts a long time.
La Mer The Moisturizing Soft Cream
This moisturizing cream is more expensive, but depending on your skin priorities and concerns it’s worth it. It’s made with La Mer’s famous miracle broth, as antioxidants and giant sea kelp, that together help heal and protect your skin from environmental stressors in addition to being very hydrating.
Sugar Lip Polish
This lip polish has been one of my holy grails for a long time now. Dry and peeling lips are so common when the temperatures drop, and in addition to being inconvenient it can also be painful! This instantly removes the dead skin on your lips while leaving behind a film of moisture.
Elemis Pro Collagen Cleansing Balm
I love products that serve more than one purpose! This balm is a favorite I use year round because it’s nourishing, cleansing, and hydrating. Your makeup literally melts off which is incredibly satisfying, and it smells like a spa which is a nice bonus!
