Cashmere is one of my favorite fabrics. It’s incredibly luxurious, and so soft and warm. I know through my own research how difficult it is to find affordable cashmere that actually looks, feels and wears like cashmere. Now that summer is over and we’re heading into fall and winter, I wanted to put together a list of what I consider the best cashmere sweaters, most of them under $150. There’s a couple that are fairly pricey in comparison, but I promise they’re worth it if you can make the investment!
Everything from the silhouette to the fit to the colors of this mid-tier cashmere sweater is absolutely classic. Designed as a crewneck that’s not too tight or too loose, you can easily wear it for a wide range of occasions. I also appreciate the weight, too! When it comes to styling, I’d dress it up with nice earrings and heels or make it casual with jeans and boots.
Out of all the cashmere brands listed here, I’ve worn and owned J.Crew cashmere the longest. They are a tried and true quality place to buy cashmere! I love how it’s 100% cashmere, which makes it super soft, and how it washes well and lasts forever. I’m still wearing J.Crew cashmere sweaters from a decade ago! If you don’t like crewnecks, you can also shop collared v-necks, relaxed v-necks, cardigans and more.
Naked Cashmere is a luxury cashmere brand that offers high-quality cashmere with a superb fit. This is definitely above the $150 price point but the craftsmanship and cost-per-use make it worth it to me. I appreciate how they use recycled cashmere, and that the yarn used is certified organic by the Global Organic Textile Standard. My sweater from them has an oversized, comfy fit. It’s not sloppy though, so you won’t look disheveled wearing it. Of course it’s warm and breathable, and it’s also great for all kinds of looks: casual, smart casual and weekend. By far one of the best cashmere sweaters.
Vince is becoming one of my new favorite brands because of how luxe their pieces feel and how high quality they are. Like many of you, I picked up this cashmere and merino wool blend tunic during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. It will definitely be something I reach for over and over! The material is thicker which makes the sweater chunky and cozy, but it still looks elevated even when paired with leggings and boots.
This is by far the most affordable 100% cashmere sweater! Only $75, you can’t beat the price, but you also get what you pay for compared to the others. If you need to stay under $100, this is perfect, but I do find it pills more and feels thinner than J.Crew cashmere. Still though, considering the cost it deserves a spot on this list of best cashmere sweaters! What I really love about Nadaam besides the accessibility is their great sustainability efforts including 100% recyclable packaging.
This is the second most inexpensive cashmere sweater, and is slightly better quality than Nadaam’s. The interesting thing about it is depending on the color you get, this can be a little thin. While I’m not sure why that is, I find it’s more prevalent in darker colors. If you can get this on sale, I’d definitely recommend it more than Nadaam!
