This week, I celebrated another round around the sun. I never realized what a milestone birthday turning 30 was until it actually happened! I’ll be honest: I have never felt so loved. Being surrounded by family, close friends and the thoughtful gifts and gorgeous flowers coming into our home made me emotional. I couldn’t be more grateful for such an incredible tribe and to celebrate this milestone in our first home we built was the cherry on top! I’ve spent years away from home, working and focusing on my career. While I made wonderful friends, some of whom are like family, there really is no place like home. Johnny did an awesome job planning this party, so I figured it would make sense to share at-home 30th birthday party ideas, or any gathering! We are still saving for our wedding, so we didn’t want to go all out on everything! Here’s how to get the best bang for your buck and I hope this can provide some party inspiration!
Pick a Theme / Colors
Before you hop into ordering decor and food, I would recommend picking a theme or colors. This way, when you pull together inspiration and start talking to vendors you know what you want. Since this was for my 30th Birthday at home, I figured this was one of the only times I can really get a lot of pink without it looking like I disregarded Johnny being present, haha!
However, I didn’t want everything to be pink so I wanted to incorporate some nudes to even out the colors a bit.
We wanted our gathering to be small since it was the first time we really hosted this many people in our home! We didn’t want to be overwhelmed or feel like we are too busy hosting to enjoy our company.
Beautiful Balloons
When it comes to getting a lot of bang for your buck, balloons are the way to go! They really make a statement and add that wow factor to a space. We worked with Lushra, who is known for creating gorgeous balloon installs in the Dallas Fort Worth area. If you’re throwing a party, you’re going to want to hire them! They can install balloons anywhere and we even toyed with the idea of putting this garland outside!
They are famous for their organic balloon garlands, which are about 10′ long. We added onto the garland with a chunky bottom and I love the look! It really creates impact and fills the space well. I got their Boho Bridal color scheme, which has gorgeous nudes, mauve pinks and blush. You can DIY the garland, but I recommend hiring Lushra to make sure the install is professionally done and nothing happens. If you do decide to do it yourself, make sure you get the inflator! Trust me, you do not want to manually blow up dozens of balloons!
In addition to the balloon garland, we got the custom jumbo balloon! You can customize the balloon to say whatever you want and add a tassel tail to finish it off.
Let Them Eat Cake
You can’t really throw a party without cake! This is one of the most essential 30th birthday party ideas to get right. We ordered my birthday cake from Crumb & Kettle because our wedding planner recommended them for our wedding cake! I figured in addition to the tasting box, what better than to actually order a cake from them? If it’s not what we’re looking for, it’s not as high risk as our wedding.
What’s really cool about Crumb & Kettle is they have specialty cakes you can order! No dealing with fully custom cakes and the price tag that may come with. We paid five days in advance and Johnny picked up this gorgeous marble cake the morning of the party. (We also grabbed their monthly tasting box so our friends could help us choose our wedding cake flavors!)
We picked vanilla cake with hazelnut butter cream and it was delicious! What I really love about Crumb & Kettle is their cakes are all buttercream. There isn’t any fondant and it’s all soft and delicious! We left it out on the kitchen counter until cake cutting time!
Florals
We also had some gorgeous peony bouquets and floral arrangements by Something Pretty Floral, who also happens to be our wedding florist, too! They graciously sent over a peony bouquet as a surprise for my birthday and a friend sent another gorgeous arrangement so we had them displayed near the cake!
