Thanksgiving is around the corner and while things could be very different for many of us, that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t hold on to what we can. I’ve spent many holidays away from family working so I’m feeling quite blessed to be with them now. We are keeping Thanksgiving just immediate family, but that doesn’t mean I can’t make it special. It’s our first year in our new home and I’m excited to share a modern and beautiful tablescape for Thanksgiving. I want our home to be comfortable and put guests at ease. Yes, we love beautiful things, but family, health and being together is what matters most.
Before I dive into our Thanksgiving Tablescape I want to share details on our current dining room furniture first. We are taking our time decorating our home and it’s fun to share what we bring in. Our dining table is solid oak and we are so happy with it! It extends to 118″ and I go into detail about it here.
For head chairs, I opted for these affordable slipcover chairs on casters. I love how they easily roll and are quite comfortable. We did order fresh white chairs from Restoration Hardware, but they won’t be delivered until late December. Finally, we got six of these gorgeous weave chairs. They are comfortable, affordable and create a striking contrast in our dining room.
It’s no surprise I love clean lines and a modern touch. As a foundation of our Thanksgiving tablescape, I’m using white plates and bowls. I love how lightweight they are and how organic they look. The plates have a nice texture and I love the lip, which keeps sauces from spilling. We have these on our open shelves and have enjoyed using them every day!
For flatware, we are loving this gold set. I originally got a set for two a few years ago. The gold is still intact and it’s beautiful. I added the rest last year, bringing me to eight.
We don’t drink much alcohol in our family, but we still love how elegant wine glasses can look. These are my favorite and the modern look is perfect for our home!
Since our table is such a beauty, we didn’t want to cover it with a tablecloth. I got this affordable runner and the slight cream color is perfect. I do have small doubts about how it’ll ultimately look with fresh white chairs when those arrive, but for now, I love the soft touch.
For napkins, I wanted something to provide contrast with our white dinnerware, so black it is. I love the simple look of these and they are so soft. I ended up placing them between the plate and bowl and really like how they pop!
Is it a modern and beautiful Thanksgiving tablescape without the proper accessories? I initially fell in love with these black candleholders a few months ago. They are a bit of an investment, but with their classic look, I know we will use them for years and years. I actually did order a few of each size, but the others didn’t arrive in time for this photoshoot.
I worked with Something Pretty Floral (HK10 for a discount!) to create this gorgeous fresh fall arrangement. She styled it in my favorite dipped vase, too! I sprinkled in faux pumpkins for now, but in reality, food will be the star of the show.
