A good skincare routine has always been very important to me. My Mom taught me when I was young to take care of my body, and I want to make sure I’m doing so the best I can! As someone whose skin struggles with the cold, having a specific winter skincare routine for dry skin makes a big difference in keeping my face smooth and hydrated. If your skin is affecting your confidence or you’re just not getting the results you want, I suggest trying one of these products. Not only do they work wonders for me, but I’ve received a lot of positive feedback from readers. Remember everyone’s needs are different and your perfect fit may not be here. Unfortunately, trial and error is just a part of the process. Good luck!
MORNING SKINCARE
STEP 1: CLEANSER
TheSkinCeuticals LHA Cleanser is the best for acne or blemish-prone skin because it does a really thorough job of cleaning your pores, without making your skin feel tight or dry. It does feel tingly though, which I love! This cleanser also exfoliates and takes care of signs of aging.
STEP 2: TREATMENT SERUM
If you aren’t already using a vitamin C serum, you need to. The SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic Serum is like magic. It’s made my skin so plump and glowy, not to mention the softest it’s ever been. I apply one drop on each cheek and my forehead and then press it in. After only two weeks, I saw a visible difference in my skin!
STEP 3: MOISTURIZER
The Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream is a staple in my winter skincare routine for dry skin because it’s truly so hydrating. I was using it when we were in Nashville during their winter storm and in Utah while skiing during our combined bachelor and bachelorette party, and I’m glad I did. For as much moisture as it brings my skin, it’s very lightweight and absorbs quickly. A little goes a long way too, so I use whatever I have leftover on my hands.
STEP 4: SUNSCREEN
Sunscreen is the most important thing you put on your skin all day, so please don’t forget it! I’ve tried a lot of sunscreens and Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen is my favorite. It doesn’t have any white flash so you can’t see it, and it’s also like a primer for makeup. When applying, make sure to put sunscreen on your neck and chest as well.
NIGHT SKINCARE
STEP 1: CLEANSING BALM
Let me start off by saying you should never, ever use makeup wipes to cleanse your skin. They don’t actually wipe your makeup off, but instead just wipe it around your face. Instead, I swear by my Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm. It literally melts the makeup off your face and is so good for your skin, especially the winter. Make sure to put it on a dry face, cover your eyes last, and lather your face with warm water before rinsing.
STEP 2: CLEANSER
I use the same cleanser at night as in the morning!
STEP 3: TREATMENT SERUM
TheSkinCeuticals Blemish + Age Defense saved my skin after suffering from breakouts in 2018. It cleared my adult acne in two weeks! I used to apply it every night, but now I only use it every other night or every two nights. To apply it, I put one drop on each cheek and rub it into both sides of the face, then split a drop between my t-zone area. I also like to press it into the skin once it’s been applied.
STEP 4: EYE CREAM
Dry skin under your eyes is super common because there aren’t any oil glands in that area. To prevent this, I use the Laneige Eye Sleeping Mask every night and wake up to plump and moisturized skin every morning. There are a lot of great eye creams out there, but this one has been my favorite for a while!
STEP 5: RETINOL
I started using Kiehl’s Micro-Dose Retinol Serum when I turned 30. I love the micro-dose formula because instead of worrying about minimizing or treating redness, dryness, and peeling, I just get to enjoy the anti-aging benefits like minimized pores and firm skin! If you’ve never used retinol before, this is a great product to start with.
STEP 6: CORRECTIVE SERUM
I started using the SkinCeuticals H.A. Intensifier daily in January through our trips to Nashville, Utah, and New York. Even though we’re now back to a more moderate climate, I still apply it every other night. By adding supplementary hyaluronic acid, it’s truly helped my skin retain moisture, and as I get older it’ll also reduce signs of aging.
STEP 7: MOISTURIZER
I use the same moisturizer at night as in the morning!
STEP 8: LIP MASK
I wear makeup almost every day, which means I wear lipstick almost every day. Making sure my lips are soft and moisturized matters! If my lips are dry and flakey, I start with a lip scrub and then use either the L’Occitane Delicious 3-in-1 Multi-Balm or the Laneige Sleeping Lip Mask.
