Oh my goodness! I’m over the moon excited about this blog post. I got the incredible opportunity to design a pair of earrings with olive + piper, one of my favorite jewelry brands! These are the Saigon Tassel Earrings and they are everything I could ever want in earrings. I named them after the Capital of Vietnam, which my family fled from after the communist party took over following the end of the Vietnam War. To me, being aware of my family’s incredible struggle and sacrifice motivates me to work even harder and to succeed. Plus, Saigon is a stunning city and a beautiful name.
Years ago, olive + piper reached out to me, wanting to see if I would like to wear some of their beautiful jewels at Miss USA when I competed. Of course, I said yes and our relationship grew. Tania, the CEO is such a girl boss and so inspiring to me. Through the years, I love mixing in her jewelry to make my feminine and flirty sense of style have extra pizazz. A few months ago, she reached out saying in celebration of olive + piper’s 5th birthday, she wanted to see if I’d be interested in designing a custom piece. I couldn’t be more honored!
Right away, I knew I wanted earrings because that’s my signature. I love pinks and mauves, so going with an ombre palette is natural. Finding the perfect mix and hues can be difficult, but with Tania’s expertise, we have a winning combination! Also, I prefer pearls to diamonds (unless we’re talking about an engagement ring), so a pearl fastener was important. Finally, add all that together and you have the Saigon Tassel Earring. Plus, I love how adorable they look on their own. Almost like little dresses (or so that’s what Johnny says!).
