Despite the heat wave hitting the island of Manhattan, after-work hours boasts decent temperatures with nice winds.
I was very fortunate to find this cool and chic dress with the belt I’ve been hunting for months. This dress makes me think of a cruise on a yacht or lunch on the Pier. I’ve been a big fan of pairing cognac brown with everything, so this dress was a great fit.
It’s very important to be cognizant of how the fabrics you choose to wear can affect how you feel. If it’s hot outside, I like to wear light colors and fabrics to help me stay cool. Flowy fabrics are ideal for hotter days and allow a little breeze to keep you cool.
Often times, statement jewelry is meant to “jump” off your body and bring attention. But it doesn’t have to all the time. Sometimes I like to stick to one color palette and mix very similar color clothing and jewelry. This dress is a beautiful seafoam blue so I paired it with my turquoise necklace to add understated details. The result is a very sophisticated and clean wardrobe.
My Dad raised me to match my shoes and belt (whenever possible in women’s fashion) so I find myself subconsciously doing it. When I first bought these gorgeous pumps, I searched for a similar colored belt without really realizing it. While it’s not always possible, like wearing oddly-colored belts, matching your belt and shoes can really pull a look together. When there are like colors in your outfit, people instantly see you took the time to ensure a presentable appearance, which isn’t a bad thing.
