Saturated Contrast :: Coral Blazer & Bright Denim

Hello, Everyone!
My time here in New York is winding down and I’m getting fearful I haven’t experienced everything I should have. Jonathan and I decided to use this weekend to explore SoHo and hit up some of the touristy spots we really enjoyed. Since clouds have taken over, I chose to pair bright blue denim with a sturdy coral blazer in case rain fell, which it did quite often.

As mentioned before, I’m a big fan of wearing highly pigmented and saturated colors during summer. It can be slightly tricky pairing two (or sometimes more) very vivid colors together, but to make it easy and simple, I always refer to the color wheel.

When I was younger, I learned from both my Dad and art class, contrasting colors go together quite well. My Dad’s shirt and tie combinations were hardly ever “close” in color. He always chose the color across, or closely across, from each other on the color wheel, which really accented the colors in his shirt and ties well. Wearing bright blue denim paired with a contrasting coral denim may not sound great at first, but since the colors are almost across from each other, it’ll make both colors appear more vibrant.

Also, a quick tip Jonathan and I picked up while in the city: Order a London Fog or Dirty Chai latte from Starbucks. They’re super delish! We got the tip from a native New Yorker 😉 Thank you so much for reading! I hope you come back soon.
