Happy Fourth of July Everyone!
Independence Day is one of my favorite holidays of the year. As mentioned previously, my whole family immigrated to America searching for freedom, democracy and human rights. All things, communist Vietnam doesn’t have. I feel so fortunate to have been born in the USA and to call it home every single day. July 5 is also my Dad’s birthday, so we have always made the 4th a big deal to celebrate two events! I was home this weekend for a wedding, so we celebrated early. In the past, I usually wear shorts and a cute top, but this year I wanted a Fourth of July dress. I spotted this embroidered plunging neckline dress from Misguided at Nordstrom and knew it would be perfect! The dress is very lightweight and airy, so it’s perfect for Texas heat. I love the detailing on the neckline of this dress and it is so flattering on – even if you’re small-chested like me. The fabric is easily steamed, so maintenance is easy. What I love about this dress is it’s so versatile. It works with minimalist heels for brunch, but can also be styled with sneakers for a fun casual look. You can even white kicks, which would really make this a cute Fourth of July dress for many years.
I wanted to offer a tip about sunglasses. I got these mirrored Ray-Ban sunnies last year and I can be pretty rough on certain pairs of sunglasses. During my move to Virginia, somehow during brunch I lost a screw connecting the right side of the glasses! I kept telling myself I would go get it fixed, but always forgot. It literally sat in the bottom of my Chloe for months. When I was home, I saw my Dad had a glass repair kit complete with screws and screwdrivers! I was able to fix them in literally less than a minute. I highly recommend having a kit at home for any glass repairs. Screws can come undone after many wears, so it’s nice to not have to depend on someone else!
