Happy Holidays, y’all! I’m so excited to share our holiday decor for 2024 with you. It’s always so much fun for me to dream up an idea, execute it and then enjoy it for the season. I’m so happy with how this turned out. We did a lot of red last year, but I love the traditional touch. This year we opted to lean more into gold with pops of red and I think it’s the perfect blend. We love more modern Christmas decor so I’m excited to share all the little details. It’s similar, but different from our decor from years past.
Decorating the Mantel
The mantel is the focal point and it’s always a little challenge for me each year. However, this is the first year I was really concerned about making sure everything is secure since we have a toddler! She’s very curious and loves to explore, so I wanted to make sure it was not going to come crashing down her if she pulls on it,. I used a mix of command hooks and this secure fastener. The fastener attaches directly to our wood mantel and uses the weight applied to it to hold things in place. I used this on the right end and hung two garlands on it to create the drape. Using a mix of 9′ and 6′ garland, I layered them to create the slight swoop and since I used about five total on the mantel, they are secure. I have two hooked up to the jumbo command hook to ensure they won’t budget.
On our coffee table, I did a mix of faux botanicals, nutcrackers and shatter-proof ornaments. This ties in the touches of red and also gives our toddler something to play with if she wants!
Night Time Glow
I hardly show our space at night, but I felt like everything looked so magical. The warm glow from our Christmas tree, faux taper candles, lit village houses and the fireplace are such a vibe. I also swapped out our Samsung Frame TV art to something a little more festive. As a former figure skater, I was drawn to this ice skating scene.
Johnny has wanted a winter village display for years, but we haven’t been able to find the right homes. We finally hit the jackpot with these and I love how they light up, too!
