Lunar New Year is right around the corner! As our toddler is 2.5 years old now, reading is truly such a joy with her. We rotate her books every couple of weeks and adding in these cultural books was such a wonderful moment. Growing up, I didn’t have Lunar New Year books like this. I’s incredible to see the amount of diversity in books now for our daughters.

Mai’s Áo Dài

Our daughter absolutely loves this book! Takes place on the morning of T?t and goes through the importance of Mai’s áo dài and the story of her Bà N?i being famous for making áo dàis in Vietnam. Colorful illustrations and co-authored by a good friend of ours, Thái Nguy?n, who designed our wedding áo dài.

A Sweet New Year for Ren

This is a new addition to our Lunar New Year books. Great story that goes through family traditions in preparation for Lunar New Year! Super cute story on a young girl who wants to help prepare for the festivities. Our daughter loves this book and the illustrations are so pretty. We will also be trying the Pineapple Cake recipe.

The Chinese New Year Helper

I love this book for Em, because it highlights a young girl helping her family’s restaurant celebrate the Chinese New Year. It was important to get books that also highlighted Chinese New Year celebrations, too, for Em with her being half Taiwanese!

Good Night, Zodiac Animals

This is a newer book that we got for our daughters and so far are loving it for this season leading up to the Lunar New Year! It explains each of the 12 zodiac animals and brings them to life in a really fun way. Great for introducing all the zodiacs to little ones.

The Tet Team

Another favorite books of ours that we’ve had for a couple of years and love! It’s a fun and colorful story highlighting the true meaning of Lunar New Year and how the celebration brings everyone together. It’s a journey in a book that your little ones will surely enjoy for the holiday!
