Even now that we’re married, I continue to look at our engagement shoot photos with such fondness. As you can imagine, we’ve taken a lot of photos together, but those are extra special to me. When preparing for both shoots, I wanted to match the moment if you will. Getting engaged was the result of a decade of dreaming and planning together. Part of distinguishing these photos from others was our engagement shoot outfits.
Our outfits may be a bit much for some, but I do still think dressing up can be a way of honoring the event. Hypothetically, only your wedding photos will ever be more ornate! Below, I put together two sets of engagement shoot outfits with something coordinating for both her and him. One is less formal than the other.
The base of this look is this stunning white floral dress, which is perfect for a spring shoot. Similar tones come through with this refreshing pink lip and modern marbled clutch. The thin strap of these sandals also adds the perfect modern touch. Of course, I couldn’t resist styling the outfit with my favorite Kendra Scott drop earrings!
For the men, I wanted to introduce a little bit of pattern play alongside the floral with this gray suit and subtle dot pocket square. The rest of the outfit is incredibly simple with a classic white shirt, black tie, black belt, and black shoes.
This second set of engagement shoot outfits is more formal, which I actually think has more to do with the men’s look. Never underestimate the power of menswear! A sharp black suit is the definition of timeless, particularly when tied with a white shirt, black bowtie, black belt, black shoes, and simple ivory pocket square.
Now onto my favorite, which is of course womenswear! This white ruffle midi has a chic appeal to it both in fit and silhouette. The tan leather pump complements it effortlessly, and the pointed toe on it is incredibly elongating. The taffeta and bow on this handbag lean into this very bridal moment, while (if you’re me, at least!) the mauve lip and pearl beaded earrings are more of a signature.
