In early April, more than 1.5 million tourists make their way to see the picturesque cherry blossoms in D.C. and take photos. The main goal is to witness what’s known as the peak bloom of about 3,000 cherry trees. It’s a spectacular sight and the National Cherry Blossom Festival celebrates the gift of friendship to the United States from the people of Japan. The Sakura truly transforms the area into a romantic, whimsical place. While my sister and I missed the peak bloom by a day or two, there are still stunning blooms all over our Nation’s Capitol. The time these exquisite flowers bloom changes every year, so there isn’t a set time. There are estimates but the weather is unpredictable and changes every minute. Check back soon for a more in-depth travel guide to seeing cherry blossoms in D.C.
It’s probably not a shocker I’ve really been loving pantsuits lately. There’s something about a set, two pieces made to be worn together, that really makes me happy. Plus, you really get more than one outfit since you can wear the pieces separately. The mint color really drew me in and the moment I saw it, I knew I wanted to wear this suit to see the cherry blossoms in D.C. In both the belted blazer and high-waisted trousers, I’m wearing size US 2, which fits like a 0. The pants fit my waist great, however, the length is a little long. A proper hem for me would get rid of the split hem but that’s a sacrifice I’m okay with. The blazer fits great and I love how it looks on. However, the belt is too big for me. To solve this problem, I’m tying it in a chic knot instead of using the belt.
To keep things simple, I’m wearing a simple white top underneath and using a fun pair of Kendra Scott earrings for a color pop. The weather in early April can vary from chilly to hot in Washington, D.C. What I love about this blazer is it’s the perfect top layer for a spring look. During the warmest parts of the day, I didn’t wear the blazer and the look is still chic.
