For most of winter, I prefer to stay comfortable, casual and warm. Don’t get me wrong, I love to dress up, wear heels and a pretty dress. But when it’s cold my outfit has to be functional. Coming up with a casual winter outfit that doesn’t revolve around looking like a marshmallow can be difficult. As many of you know, layering is key. That’s one reason I love this casual winter outfit consisting of a turtleneck poncho. I’m wearing size XXS and there is still plenty of room to layer a cashmere or merino wool base layer underneath. You may even be able to sneak another sweater underneath, too! I love how this particular poncho drapes. It’s very flattering and forgiving. Plus, the speckled fabric gives this ultra cozy vibe while still being chic. The dolman sleeves still fit inside most coats and jackets, so you really can layer up if the temperatures are frigid!

What casual winter outfit is complete without leggings? To keep this look on the simpler side, I’m keeping things in the black, white and gray scheme. These smoke gray leggings are a winter favorite. They go with almost every outfit and look great with many different shoes. Whether I’m wearing over the knee boots, booties or even sneakers, they look good.

If you want to jazz things up, do what I love and add a pair of statement earrings. These earrings are more like a piece of art. While they were probably designed for a more fancy occasion, I love wearing them with a casual winter outfit. It really helps bring more interest to the outfit and is a pop of unexpected. They may look heavy, but they really are quite lightweight. Gold or rose gold are usually my go-to’s but these silver beauties captured my heart. They feel celestial almost and I can’t help but have dreamy thoughts when I see or wear them.
