As Labor Day arrives and the beginning of fall starts to show just a little bit, I love gathering essentials for fall. You just never know with the weather, so it’s always nice to be prepared for a crisp morning or cool evening. I’ve mentioned this previously but I love to get fall pieces during the Nordstrom Sale. My essentials for fall include a cozy cardigan with a chunky knit and a good pair of boots. The beautiful braid and knit detailing on this cardigan drew me in the moment I saw it. I’m a sucker for classic cream but it also comes in charcoal, dark hunter green, navy blue and a gorgeous rose color. This cardigan is oversized so I got size XS. It’s perfect for throwing over a dress like I am here. It’ll be so cute with jeans, a simple tee or blouse underneath and heels, too.
I couldn’t write a post on essentials for fall post without including a pair of boots. If you’ve been a Color & Chic reader for a while, you know I slave over Stuart Weitzman over-the-knee boots. However, I know sometimes those aren’t always appropriate or look right with longer cut dresses. Say hello to the perfect pair of knee-high boots. I love this golden caramel shade because it’s very flattering against many skin tones. Plus, it’s a great neutral for fall and into winter. I’m 5’3 and these boots hit right at my knee, which is perfect. The fabric is a little soft, so they don’t stand up perfectly straight like in the stock photo. However, they do stay up and really do elongate your legs. They also come in black faux suede as well. I find they run true to size as I’m wearing size 5.5 and there is still some room for tights.
