Being 5’3, I love when a brand introduces a petites collection! Over the years, I’ve grown accustomed to adding in an alterations budget when I shop for clothes. A lot of the items I wear need to be altered in some way, usually, a hem will do. However, sometimes an item requires extensive work. I love White House Black Market because they have items you can wear both to work and on the weekends. Now, there is WHBM Petites and I could not be happier! Their petite clothing is for women who are 5’4 or shorter, regardless of their size. So what makes an item petite? It’ll have a shortened sleeve, narrowed shoulders, raised waist, shorter skirt length and a reduced pant inseam. Yay for putting my alterations budget toward my savings!
For work, I love low-maintenance fabrics. If I’m not sitting at my desk, I’m sitting in my photographer’s car writing my scripts and preparing for a live shot. I love this gingham bell sleeve blouse because it’s a conservative cut, yet is fun and flirty because of the fabric and sleeves. The best part about a petites collection is the bottoms. When you hem jeans or pants, they are not really the same because the item usually will not hit you in the right spot. That’s one of the reasons I love buying petite pants. These distressed jeans are super stretchy. There are darker blue patches underneath the distressing, so skin doesn’t show through. The length on these jeans are perfect for me, which is a plus!
