Exploring Rattlesnake Lake During Winter

Picturesque is the only way I can think of describing Rattlesnake Lake. Being able to see this exquisite spot was something I definitely wanted to check off my list when visiting the Pacific Northwest. I’ve been longing to see snow all winter and even though Johnny and I missed the snowstorm, there was still plenty left. When we finally arrived the view was breathtaking. Exploring Rattlesnake Lake is the perfect addition for a trip to Seattle. The temperatures were not bad at all. Only just above freezing, which without the wind, is quite nice. We arrived just before 3:00 p.m. and there were a few families exploring and of course, some photography sessions.

A Casual Winter Outfit :: Turtleneck Poncho

For most of winter, I prefer to stay comfortable, casual and warm. Don’t get me wrong, I love to dress up, wear heels and a pretty dress. But when it’s cold my outfit has to be functional. Coming up with a casual winter outfit that doesn’t revolve around looking like a marshmallow can be difficult. As many of you know, layering is key. That’s one reason I love this casual winter outfit consisting of a turtleneck poncho. I’m wearing size XXS and there is still plenty of room to layer a cashmere or merino wool base layer underneath. You may even be able to sneak another sweater underneath, too! I love how this particular poncho drapes. It’s very flattering and forgiving. Plus, the speckled fabric gives this ultra cozy vibe while still being chic. The dolman sleeves still fit inside most coats and jackets, so you really can layer up if the temperatures are frigid!

Adding Color to Your Winter Outfit Ideas

I love winter but I can definitely understand if you find yourself in a style rut. A lot of people tend to gravitate toward neutrals during winter. Blacks, whites, grays and creams tend to rule during cold months. However, I’m partnering with Sole Society to share one way to avoid this style rut: adding color to your winter outfit ideas. This sweater dress is one of my favorites. It’s incredibly warm because it’s merino wool. However, it can get a little boring. The first pop of color you can add to a winter look is with a scarf. I love this exotic one because of the pink and orange stripes. When it comes to adding color to winter outfit ideas, don’t be afraid of overdoing it. If there is a neutral foundation, go for it!
