I really hate wearing makeup at the beach. Maybe it’s because I spent years reporting in the hot and humid weather and sweating in a full face of makeup. If I’m at the beach with friends or even for a blog shoot, I stick to the basics. I totally understand wanting to put your best face forward, so I’m sharing my five summer beauty essentials. These items will help you look pulled together but won’t make you feel cakey or like you’re wearing a full face.
I’m a big fan of color, which is why this blog is called Color & Chic. However, every once in a while I do love neutrals, especially white. I have a big soft spot for a good white bikini, particularly a white high-waisted bikini. The pom poms on this bikini really add a fun touch but aren’t too much to where this bikini will be out of style soon. This is the swimsuit you need this summer because it’s a classic with a twist. The triangle top is flattering, even for smaller busts. While the high-waisted bikini is great for lengthening the legs and slimming you down. I’m wearing an XS in both the top and bottoms. The top fits well and would certainly still work for those who are more endowed than me. The bottoms are a perfect fit, too! This high-waisted bikini definitely fits true to size.
Hello my beautiful friends! I hope your week is going well so far. Since we are kicking off beach weather in Coastal Virginia, I want to share my beach beauty essentials. These are items I love to bring to the beach to keep my skin healthy and at its best. It’s so important to take your skin’s health very seriously. Take a little time to get your skin ready for the sun and you can enjoy your time soaking up that vitamin sea! There is nothing worse than coming home from the beach with sunburned, peeling and dehydrated skin. It’s not a good look and will most certainly age you rapidly. We don’t want that! Of course, in conjunction with these beach beauty essentials, don’t forget to drink tons of water to stay hydrated from the inside out! Now, let’s get to the essentials!
More than a year into my move to Coastal Virginia, I like to think my beach style is where it needs to be. One of the things I’ve learned is to have fuss-free outfits. That’s why I love this darling Draper James cover-up dress. Y’all this dress is next level, especially for the beach or the pool. I love the airy cotton voile fabric along with the delicate lattice inset trim. It’s a looser fit, which is great for taking on and off with a swimsuit underneath. There aren’t any zippers, so I’m very impressed with the ease of getting this dress on and off. However, it also gently skims over the body and has shape. The charming blue color is like a quintessential beach or pool color. Plus, this Draper James cover-up dress is lined, so you can wear any swimsuit underneath without it showing through!
P.S. this look is featured on Love, Reese, which is Reese Witherspoon’s blog. It’s a place for her to share what she loves most about the South, so I would love it if you check it out!
