Where to Stay on a New York City Work Trip :: Innside New York Nomad

New York City is one of our favorite cities to travel to. We visit often for work but love getting to see friends, explore new eats and see new sights. There is always something to do in the city. However, most of our trips revolve around work so I want to share where to stay on a New York City work trip. Innside New York Nomad is known as an urban hotel for the work tripper. Centrally located in NoMad, it’s close to all the cool neighborhoods and big attractions. Our first meeting was a five-minute walk from the hotel. Talk about convenient! Plus, Innside New York Nomad has everything you need to work in your room and then get ready for business meetings or go out for dinner with colleagues.

Figure Skating with Outdoor Voices

Right boot on, then left boot on. Lace up the right skate, then lace up the left. On a crisp fall morning, come with me to Chilled Ponds, a local ice rink where I’m rediscovering my love for figure skating as a 27-year-old grandma (in figure skating terms, ha!)

I spent 11 years of my life figure skating. I pursued it competitively for most of those 11 years and as all good things, it came to an end. Injuries and just not being good enough to continue pursuing it pushed me to work hard toward my other dreams. I’m nowhere near as good as I used to be but figure skating in Outdoor Voices has inspired me to try some of my old tricks – even if it’s awkward, slow or ends in my butt on the ice.

Winter Musthave: Merino Wool Sweater Dress

Hey Y’all! I hope this week is going well for you! Winter this year is no joke. We’ve had more than two rounds of snow and one of them a blizzard! I get lots of questions about how I stay in the winter, so I’m giving away my toasty secrets in this blog post. Cashmere and wool will be your best friends. This gray merino wool sweater dress is a new closet staple of mine. What I love about merino wool is its warming and moisture wicking capabilities. Wool traps more dead air than any other fiber out there. Dead air keeps you insulated and is a fantastic buffer against the cold. Plus, merino wool can absorb up to 30 percent of its dry weight before feeling wet. Isn’t that insane!? These are just a few reasons why I love this gray merino wool sweater dress.

Staycation at the Hilton Norfolk THE MAIN

A few weeks ago, I got the chance to do a staycation at Hilton Norfolk The Main, a new high rise hotel set in downtown Norfolk, Virginia. The luxury hotel graciously had me for two nights and I felt so spoiled. It was nice to escape, even just for the weekend! The hotel is steps away from the water and the newest addition to our skyline.
