Why I Love Linen for Summer

Growing up in Texas, and living in Nebraska and Virginia for a few years, I’ve learned a few things about how to dress for the summer heat. The first rule is to wear breathable clothing. I cannot stress enough how important it is to check the fabric of the garment you’re buying. Polyester, which is what most clothing is made of nowadays, is not breathable. This means it’ll trap your sweat and make you hotter – a vicious cycle. That’s where linen comes in.

A Casual Winter Outfit :: Turtleneck Poncho

For most of winter, I prefer to stay comfortable, casual and warm. Don’t get me wrong, I love to dress up, wear heels and a pretty dress. But when it’s cold my outfit has to be functional. Coming up with a casual winter outfit that doesn’t revolve around looking like a marshmallow can be difficult. As many of you know, layering is key. That’s one reason I love this casual winter outfit consisting of a turtleneck poncho. I’m wearing size XXS and there is still plenty of room to layer a cashmere or merino wool base layer underneath. You may even be able to sneak another sweater underneath, too! I love how this particular poncho drapes. It’s very flattering and forgiving. Plus, the speckled fabric gives this ultra cozy vibe while still being chic. The dolman sleeves still fit inside most coats and jackets, so you really can layer up if the temperatures are frigid!

How to Style Sneakers for Fall

I have a confession to make: I’m a sneaker addict. I’m not quite sure when this all started, but for years now, I have been in love with sneakers. I own a ridiculous amount of pairs I’m not quite comfortable disclosing. Probably because it’s embarrassing. I cannot exactly wear sneakers to work. However, I can wear them almost everywhere else. Today I want to share how to style sneakers with style. Sneakers are getting increasingly popular and can be worn day to night. Styling them can be a tricky situation, especially since sneakers do look so good with workout clothes or athleisure. However, they can look extremely stylish if you pick the right pieces.

Styling a Corduroy Overall Dress for a Night Out

I never thought I would say this before this fall season, but I am in love with this green corduroy overall dress. If you follow me on Instagram, you may recall I styled it with a white silk blouse. I believe in having pieces you can style many different ways, that way you get more bang for your buck. I want to share a fun “going out” look I put together with this green corduroy overall dress. It’s fresh, unique and you’re sure to be comfortable, too! For reference, I’m wearing size US 0 and it fits perfectly. I will say the hip area can get a little tight, so make sure you open all three buttons as you’re getting in and out of this dress. Also, the straps are adjustable, so you can make sure this dress is the perfect length.

Red Jumpsuit

This petite red jumpsuit was one of my favorite purchases from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. It also comes in black and is on sale for less than $90! What I love about this red jumpsuit is how it fits perfectly right out of the box. I’m wearing a Petite 0 and this babe required no jumpsuits whatsoever. I”m 5’3 for reference and am wearing 3-inch heels. While it is definitely a statement, I can wear it to work on certain days and totally get away with it.
