A Winter Getaway in New York City :: Complete Travel Guide

New York City is one of my favorite destinations. I am in love with the energy, excitement and endless things to do in this city. For years, my trips to New York City are quite short, usually consisting of a day or two. Before leaving the East Coast for Dallas, Johnny and I decided to take a winter getaway in New York City. I feel like there will always more places for us to explore but for now here are some of our favorite places to visit and things to do. Our trip lasted four nights and five days. I hope this guide for a winter getaway in New York City helps you plan your itinerary for your next trip!

Staycation at The Cavalier Hotel in Virginia Beach

In the years I’ve lived in Virginia Beach, I have discovered it is quite charming. From the scenic beaches, to beautiful hikes and growing food scene, Virginia Beach has quite a bit to offer. Watching The Cavalier Hotel get re-built has been a joy and I was incredibly excited when they reached out asking me to do a staycation. Rich history lines the walls of this historic luxurious hotel originally built in 1926. Its guest list is quite impressive including F. Scott Fitzgerald, Frank Sintra, Muhammad Ali and a host of Presidents such as Franklin D. Roosevelt, Harry Truman and Lyndon B. Johnson.

A Weekend in Richmond :: Quick Travel Guide

Richmond is one of America’s oldest cities and full of charm, beauty and history. It’s crazy to think it’s only an hour and a half away from Norfolk yet I never spent a weekend in Richmond until now. Our trip was a quick one but full of beautiful memories. It’s a city now known for its’ arts revolution, lots of delicious food and beautiful landscapes. The capital of Virginia, Richmond is sometimes referred to as the Capital of the South and I can see why. There are beautiful mountains nearby, innovative universities and lots of museums, street art and, of course, good ol’ Southern Charm.

The Swimsuit You Need :: White High-Waisted Bikini

I’m a big fan of color, which is why this blog is called Color & Chic. However, every once in a while I do love neutrals, especially white. I have a big soft spot for a good white bikini, particularly a white high-waisted bikini. The pom poms on this bikini really add a fun touch but aren’t too much to where this bikini will be out of style soon. This is the swimsuit you need this summer because it’s a classic with a twist. The triangle top is flattering, even for smaller busts. While the high-waisted bikini is great for lengthening the legs and slimming you down. I’m wearing an XS in both the top and bottoms. The top fits well and would certainly still work for those who are more endowed than me. The bottoms are a perfect fit, too! This high-waisted bikini definitely fits true to size.

Color Pop :: Orange One-Shouldered Jumpsuit

Orange you glad it’s Wednesday?! Couldn’t help myself with an orange joke when wearing this stunning orange one-shouldered jumpsuit! Johnny and I snapped these photos at Old Down Town Sacramento, which was full of so much charm. If you haven’t seen our San Francisco and Sacramento Travel Guide yet, please check it out, along with our VLOG! After brunch, I changed from this blue polka dot two-piece set just to get another outfit in. I’ve heard Sacramento has so many scenic places, especially in Old Down Town, I wanted to have another outfit to share with y’all. I’m really digging the wide-leg trend right now and this jumpsuit hits the spot. The color truly pops and I got so many compliments walking around Sacramento. It’s definitely perfect for traveling since it’s comfortable and easy to wear. Plus, you don’t have to worry about it slipping or anything like that.
