PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics Travel Diary

If you ever get the chance to attend the Winter Olympics, take it! The spirit of countries coming together to witness history, the camaraderie of cheering on your country and the fight of athletes is truly remarkable. The entire world gathers to hear athletes’ stories – of passions ignited, of triumphant moments, of endless sacrifice and unconditional love. It’s something you can feel whether you’re in the arena, at the alpine heights or taking in the host city. Johnny and I feel truly blessed to watch moments when work met victory and love met pride. One of my favorite quotes is from the opening film of the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino Italy and I’d like to share it here. “Greatness is born of fearless visions and unconditional devotions.” Here is our PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics travel diary. Read more…

Watching Olympic Figure Skating :: Layering Up to Stay Warm

I cannot believe how surreal the past week has been. It’s so crazy to believe more than a week ago, we traveled to PyeongChang to watch the 2018 Winter Olympic Games and Thursday night, Johnny and I watched the last even together on our sofa in the United States. It’s been the most incredible experience and there has been so darn good figure skating the past few weeks. I’ll write more on this below. I’ll be doing a full post on what you need to know about traveling to the Olympics soon along with a full travel guide, but I’m sharing some outfit snippets here. The weather wasn’t as cold as we thought, but layering up to stay warm is essential.  Read more…

Coffee Culture at Anmok Beach in Team USA Gear

Happy Monday Y’all! Johnny and I are having an absolute blast in Gangneung while we are here for the 2018 Winter Olympics! It’s absolutely surreal to think we’ve been here for a few days and have witnessed history! Our first event was the Men’s Figure Skating and if you follow me on Instagram you know it’s been a crazy roller coaster! On Sunday (in Korea, Saturday for those in the United States), Johnny and I didn’t have any events. Gangneung is third largest coastal community in South Korea and the beaches did not disappoint. Early in the morning, we went to Anmok Beach. Coffee culture in South Korea is very strong, so it’s not surprising the street parallel to the beach is called Coffee Street. Almost every retail space sells coffee and there is even a coffee festival! Read more…

Olympic Pride :: Team USA Gear for PyeongChang 2018

It is still so surreal to me. While you are reading this blog post, Johnny and I are on board a plane flying to Seoul, South Korea for the 2018 Winter Olympics! You may recall I mentioned in this post this is truly the trip of a lifetime. As a former competitive figure skater being able to go to the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics and witness history happen is indescribable. Johnny’s willingness to help make my dream come true makes me feel so loved. A few weeks ago, Bumble asked me to share what Love Equals means to me and I couldn’t think of a better example than Johnny helping me put together this trip. He knows how important going to the Olympics was to me and did everything possible to make it a reality. Love equals helping someone else’s dream come true Read more…

Traveling to the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics :: Trip of a Lifetime

Johnny and I are so excited to announce we are taking the trip of a lifetime to the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics! Being able to witness a Winter Olympics has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember. A five-year-old version of me fell in love with figure skating during a Dallas Galleria Christmas Ice Show. I begged my parents to take me skating, but they didn’t have the money. Plus, they thought my fascination would go away. It didn’t. Three years later, I’m still begging, so my older sister decided to take me. It’s going to sound so cliche, but it was love at first step. I wouldn’t get off the ice. To me, skating feels like flying. A few competitions later, my family and I started to take figure skating very seriously. That is how an 11-year journey starts… Read more…
