A Casual Winter Outfit :: Turtleneck Poncho

For most of winter, I prefer to stay comfortable, casual and warm. Don’t get me wrong, I love to dress up, wear heels and a pretty dress. But when it’s cold my outfit has to be functional. Coming up with a casual winter outfit that doesn’t revolve around looking like a marshmallow can be difficult. As many of you know, layering is key. That’s one reason I love this casual winter outfit consisting of a turtleneck poncho. I’m wearing size XXS and there is still plenty of room to layer a cashmere or merino wool base layer underneath. You may even be able to sneak another sweater underneath, too! I love how this particular poncho drapes. It’s very flattering and forgiving. Plus, the speckled fabric gives this ultra cozy vibe while still being chic. The dolman sleeves still fit inside most coats and jackets, so you really can layer up if the temperatures are frigid!

Taking Your Wardrobe from Winter to Spring

I’m in that awkward phase right now where it’s still winter and I love it, but I’m also craving spring. Please tell me I’m not the only one? I want to talk about taking your wardrobe from winter to spring. Similar to staying warm in the winter, layering is key here. There will be days where it’s unseasonably warm and you’ll want to wear lighter pieces. having them out in your closet and ready to go will make this easier. Also, embracing bringing back pops of color if you wear a lot of neutrals in the winter. Here are are my three easy steps to taking your wardrobe from winter to spring.

Sparkle :: Office Holiday Party Outfit Idea

What a whirlwind week it has been! I know with December creeping around the corner, there are holiday gatherings on almost everyone’s schedule. I know when I did a poll on Instagram, many of you wanted an office holiday party outfit idea. I’ll admit, this can be a tricky one, especially if it’s a party taking place at the office or place of work. Y’all know I’m a fan of versatile pieces and this Gal Meets Glam Nell dress and jacket is no exception. Julie Engel is such an inspiration and I’m more than happy to support her by purchasing something from her collection. This outfit makes me feel bold, confident and powerful. When I got this in the mail, I literally couldn’t wait to try it on!

How to Style A Mint Green Cardigan for Fall and Winter

Given that temperatures are dropping in the western hemisphere and winter is starting to creep up, I want to share how to style a mint green cardigan for fall and winter. Plus, Norfolk just had the Grand Illumination Parade, trust me it’s a really big and bright deal, so that means Christmas is right around the corner! Mint green is traditionally more of a spring and summer color. I remember back in 2012, pining for all things mint, whether it was a good blouse or pair of mint gingham pants (holy crap, what a throwback to an embarrassing, younger version of me!). Mint is still a great color to wear but I can understand the challenges of styling it for fall and winter.

Monochromatic Pink Fall Look

Monochromatic looks are some of my favorite because of how chic they are and easy to create. This pink monochromatic look is a one way I’m easing into fall. A monochromatic look doesn’t always has to be the same shade of the color. I love subtle differences because it can really make the outfit pop. This pink knit sweater has pom poms in the shape of a heart, which is quite adorable. This is a chunky knit sweater made of acrylic, so it’s perfect for fall and into winter. Acrylic is quite warm, but unlike wool and cashmere, it’s not as breathable. However, if you’re cold this is a great option. The v-neck means you can wear it off one shoulder for a slouchy look, too. Also, this sweater comes in white, lavender and tan.
