Dressing with Ambition :: White Ruffle Sleeve Dress

I feel very grateful to be a TV Journalist and absolutely love what I do. I’ve wanted to be a journalist since I was a little girl. Thanks to help from my Mom, a strong journalism school (Hook ’em, Longhorns!) and the work ethic from my immigrant family, I’m proud to be where I am […] Read more…

Little Gray Tweed Dress & Blue Accents

Happy Monday y’all! Putting a little pep in my step with this fresh gray tweed dress that has pockets! Now that the Winter Olympics are over, I’m going full speed into Spring and this little gray tweed dress is the perfect addition. It has a swingy silhouette, which is fun yet still conservative enough for the office. Plus, the side seam pockets are perfect for phones, lipsticks or just nonchalantly placing your hands. I can’t say enough about how pictures don’t do this dress justice. The material is so chic in person and reminds me of the old school Chanel blazers. I love the detailing with the T-shape, which gives this swing dress the illusion of a sharper silhouette. The short sleeves are the perfect length with a little trim on the shoulders, too!  Read more…

Cold Weather Chic :: Velvet Pants for the Desk to Dinner

I hardly ever wear pants to work, but these navy velvet pants are making me rethink that. It’s no surprise velvet is still living out its moment. I love the lean silhouette of how these velvet pants are cut. There are off-seam pockets, which is a must-have for me. Plus, the way the pants are tailored looks and feels custom. I appreciate the contoured waistband, which helps with fit. I’m wearing a size 00 Petite and it actually runs just a dash big on me. Hence, my belt, which is also big for me, ha! There’s a little bit of smoke and mirrors going on here. Don’t worry, I plan on getting the belt fixed! I’m clearly having some petite girl struggles. While I’d normally consider an alternation job, I’m going to leave these pants alone since they aren’t that big on me. Read more…

Southern Style for Fall :: Blue Meadow Vines Blouse

When it comes to blouses for work, I love soft fabrics I can easily manipulate. That way I can weather them over pants or tuck them into skirts without an issue. This blue meadow vines blouse is perfect for fall. The lace yoke neckline is an instant eyecatcher. Plus, I love how it extends to the shoulders, too. This blouse is lightweight, so you can wear it on its own, or underneath blazers or cardigans if it’s chilly. I always have this problem at work, so I love how chic it looks underneath layers. The vine print is sweet and southern, yet sophisticated enough for the office. I’m wearing a size 0 and it fits well while also being easy to take on and off for a blouse without stretch. I’m styling it casually here with leggings and booties.  Read more…
