I’m very excited about today’s post because it’s sharing my Miss USA interview outfit.
When you’re going into the interview for your dream job, you want to feel confident, bold and super sharp. Interview is without a doubt my favorite phase of competition and I wanted to wear something that embodied me, my personality and my sense of style. This dress has a very classic silhouette, but with its paneling and countless studs, it gives the outfit an edge and a little bit of a fight. I couldn’t imagine wearing anything else and walking into my interview as confidently as I did. I wanted to share my top five tips for choosing your interview wardrobe, whether it’s for a pageant or a job you’re applying for.

:: Top Five Tips for Interview Wardrobe ::
1. Do you love it?
You absolutely have to love what you’re wearing. If you don’t feel confident, it will show in your face, your attitude and your body language. When I found this dress and put it on, I knew it was the perfect dress and I feel like a million bucks in it.
2. Fits Like A Glove
My number one rule for any piece in your closet is it has to fit you perfectly. You simply cannot expect to grab something off the rack and have it fit like it was made for you. Sometimes it will, but the majority of the time, a tailor is required. I had this dress taken in and hemmed before it was able to look the way it does in these photos. For something as important as a job interview, please make sure what you’re wearing is tailored to your body.
3. Is It Appropriate?
Not all jobs are the same. What you wear to an interview at a fashion magazine will differ from what you’d wear to interview at a corporate job. Don’t let color factor in here, I truly believe you can interview for high-powered and corporate jobs in color. The appropriateness comes from the length, style and cut of your outfit. Think about whether you can wear sleeveless, cap sleeve or whether you really should throw on a blazer.
4. Keep Accessories To A Minimum
I’m a big believer in earrings because they draw attention to your face. If you can, keep your jewelry and accessories to a minimum so they aren’t distracting. If you know you fidget, it’s probably best to avoid bracelets and rings.
5. Nude Pump or No?
I love nude pumps, I really do. I own four different pairs. However, they can get pretty boring and if you want to show a little spunk, stray away! I opted for a blush colored heel from Charlotte Olympia. The platform kind of disappeared into the floor, but if the gold caught the light, it sparkled. Plus, I have to admit, they did match my dress perfectly. Find a shoe complimenting your outfit, but if they serve as the centerpiece, don’t go for it. You want to be the star of the show. Good luck!
