Hello My Beautiful Friends! Y’all may remember I moved into a bigger apartment. The 250 or so extra square footage really affords me the ability to stretch out and decorate. However, my bigger unit actually has a smaller closet, meaning I would have to get creative. A big portion of my closet is dresses. Since I have so many in different colors, I wanted to feature them on a hanging rack. I call it my dress depository. A trip to a hardware store and Johnny and I had a commercial grade clothing rack. I couldn’t find the one I purchased online, but this one looks sturdy and boasts good reviews. If you’re going to use a clothing rack, I highly recommend commercial grade since it’ll support the weight of your clothes.
To decorate the space above my dress depository, I went with the artful shelf from Minted. I did not want it to be as long as my rack so I got the four feet length shelf in white wood. I do want to note if possible, I recommend making sure there is a stud (the more the better) where the artful shelf is hanging. It depends on how heavy the art and whatever else you put on is, but I like having the support. The shelf was super easy to install. Johnny simply drilled in the metal holder and popped the shelf on top of that.
I have my dresses hanging from dark to light, so I wanted art that was slightly neutral. Of course, the art still needs to hold its own against the rainbow of dresses. I love the soft strokes and the bit of blush in the Son print so that was my first choice. When I first moved to Norfolk, I knew I wanted to have something to remind me of the place I called home to keep for years to come. When I saw this custom gold foil map, I knew it was perfect. You can type in an address or city, zoom in or out and place the map exactly how you want it. I went with Norfolk and Virginia Beach and love how I’ll be able to take it with me no matter where journalism takes me next! It’s also available in silver and rose gold, too.
The artful shelf is the perfect place for my Prada tote to sit and I threw my gold deer head up there just for kicks. Minted has such a huge selection of beautiful prints. I have two big prints hanging in my living room (see here) and I’m excited to see what else I can find to make my space feel more like home. I’m also linking some other prints I love.
All I can think of is wearing bright, fresh colors with spring in full force. I am mixing up my work style with a pair of White House Black Market pink ankle pants. While I usually prefer dresses, I love how these fit and feel. Due to the cotton, nylon and spandex blend these pink ankle pants are so comfortable on and stretchy. Plus, the 00 short is a great fit for me. The length hits right above my ankles, which is a total plus! On days where it gets chilly, I love the warmth of these. Also, the color is a refreshing take on the boring black or navy. I’m pairing these with a pair of d’Orsay heels to make the outfit sharp. Plus, the slimming cut of these pants combined with the heels really elongates the legs. Another aspect I love about these pants is they’re wrinkle free.
I am a huge fan of bell sleeves, but I have to find something a little more subdued for work. This white poplin top features bell sleeves that are just the right size, which is perfect. The white has a crisp feel and is definitely work appropriate. Also, this top has a bit of stretch, so it goes on and comes off easily. In addition, I love how conservative the v-neck is so no worries about showing too much cleavage here! Of course, I love how versatile this top is. While perfect for the office with pink ankle pants, this flirty bell sleeve top can easily be restyled for the weekend. Pair it with distressed girlfriend jeans for a casual look. Another option is to spruce it up for a fancy affair with a floral lace skirt in a bright pink.
Happy Monday y’all! First of all, I’m currently home in Dallas, Texas and I couldn’t be happier to be with family. Plus, I just love how much southern charm there is in Texas! Not to mention the abundance of Vietnamese food thanks to Momma Cung and all the other local restaurants!
Onto this blue floral off the shoulder dress screaming southern charm. It’s actually intended to be a cover up, but it is fully lined. Hence, that means I’m wearing it as a dress. Plus, it’s way too cute not to wear out and about. This blue floral is such an adorable print, y’all. I love the hints of yellow and the mixes of blue. Also, the tied sleeves and miniature pom pom trim at the hem are too cute to resist. Made of a breezy cotton voile (cotton with a touch of silk) this blue floral off the shoulder dress is lightweight and perfect for spring. I’m pairing it with my favorite suede heels for height. However, this dress would be cute with espadrilles.
Also, I wanted to talk a little bit about self-tanner. Somehow I have managed to get scarily pale and it hasn’t exactly been beach weather in coastal Virginia. My current favorite is St. Tropez and I highly recommend their mitt! First, exfoliate in the shower then apply a thick moisturizer to your knees, ankles and elbows. Second, I use three pumps per leg, two per arm and then three for my chest and stomach area. Finally, I use two pumps for my face and actually prefer to apply that with my hands. Any leftover foam, I massage all over my hands to try and make everything even. This is hit or miss, but I wanted to share my routine with y’all!
