In the years I’ve lived in Virginia Beach, I have discovered it is quite charming. From the scenic beaches, to beautiful hikes and growing food scene, Virginia Beach has quite a bit to offer. Watching The Cavalier Hotel get re-built has been a joy and I was incredibly excited when they reached out asking me to do a staycation. Rich history lines the walls of this historic luxurious hotel originally built in 1926. Its guest list is quite impressive including F. Scott Fitzgerald, Frank Sintra, Muhammad Ali and a host of Presidents such as Franklin D. Roosevelt, Harry Truman and Lyndon B. Johnson.
Living in Virginia for the past few years, Hunt Club Farm is quite the staple. The moment fall arrives, or even a little before, families flock there to buy pumpkins, let their kids enjoy the rides or attend the haunted festival. It’s definitely a destination for families looking to get into the fall spirit and a big part of the Virginia Beach community. Johnny and I love to get out and explore what’s around us, so this was definitely on our list of places to visit! We definitely had fun and even ran into a few Color & Chic readers!
There is something so romantic about florals and beautiful sweet treats. When I first saw this pink tone floral kimono, I knew I had to have it. The mix of soft pinks with touches of vibrant magenta along with the silky fabric is ultra feminine. This is a great piece for spring and summer since you can easily throw it over tops or dresses. This floral kimono only comes in one size, so I can see how this piece can be too long on those who are extra petite. Fortunately for me, the length isn’t too long and is quite sophisticated. It hits a few inches above my ankles and I keep the kimono open to help elongate my body.
It is no surprise I love food. Growing up, my Mom would cook dinner every night and it was sure to be scrumptious! I love staying in and whipping up a yummy dish. However, discovering new restaurants is also a passion. The first certified organic fast-casual restaurant in North America, Fruitive really changes up the healthy eating game. Their newest location in quaint Ghent is bright, airy and welcoming – just what you would expect for Norfolk. They had Johnny and me in recently and treated us to some delicious eats! I have experience with their liquid meals, but this was my first time really eating at Fruitive. In typical JonaKim fashion, we got a nice variety and not surprisingly, quickly ate it all!
A few weeks ago, I got the chance to do a staycation at Hilton Norfolk The Main, a new high rise hotel set in downtown Norfolk, Virginia. The luxury hotel graciously had me for two nights and I felt so spoiled. It was nice to escape, even just for the weekend! The hotel is steps away from the water and the newest addition to our skyline.
