Hello My Beautiful Friends! I am so excited about this blog post! Last weekend, I went to Houston to be with my best friend as she said, “I do” to the man of her dreams. Since my focus was on the wedding (more on this below!), I kept my luggage light. This powder pink sweater is such a beautiful shade in a classic fit. It’s comfy, cozy, everything a sweater should be. Y’all know how much I adore neutrals, so this sweater fits perfectly into my wardrobe. Plus, it was so so cold in Houston (I’m talking 20 degrees plus wind chill) so this came in handy!

So my best friend is officially a Mrs! Rachel Wendel (formerly Mann) and I met through pageants years and years ago. I was drawn to her authenticity, her sweet nature and I’m not gonna lie, I was and still am incredibly jealous of her long, long legs! We are there for each other through ups (winning pageants and nailing hard-to-get internships) and downs (relationship issues, my Dad narrowly escaping death). I couldn’t imagine another place I would rather be than by her side as a bridesmaid.

Rachel and I also share a love for fashion. Like me, she gravitates toward simpler cut items if they have stunning fabric. Therefore, I knew Rachel would pick a beautiful bridesmaid dress. I am in love with this convertible bridesmaid dress and know doubts I will wear it again. This dress is made of a beautiful jersey but did take a good while to steam (think 20 minutes) because of how much fabric there is in the skirt. However, it looks immaculate and flows so well. This convertible bridesmaid dress boasts you can tie it more than 15 different ways and after trying about seven or eight different ways, I liked the Y-neck tie best. What I love about a convertible bridesmaid dress is each bridesmaid can tie the dress in the most flattering way for her. I have a small bust and prefer a higher neckline.

This convertible bridesmaid dress comes in two sizes: A and B. Size A fits a 22″ – 38″ waist or 00 to 12. Size B fits 26″ – 46″ waist or 14 to 24. Both sizes are 44″ from the waist seam to the floor. Of course, I got my dress hemmed. Our dresses are in the color rose water, and also comes in charcoal, sapphire and ivory.

Activewear to Inspire me to stay fit for 2017 + Giveaway!

Sports Bra, Leggings, Criss Cross Open Back Tank, Nike Sneakers

Happy New Year Everyone! Almost everyone makes fitness part of their new year’s resolutions. I will say I am blessed with great metabolism and healthy eating habits. The past two years of my life have been dedicated to extremely intense fitness. In 2014, I decided I was going to compete in the Miss USA pageant system, which has a swimsuit portion. My new fitness regimen consisted of working out for at least two hours a day along with tons of cardio. That really isn’t too practical for everyday life. Now that I’m settled into my new job, in my new city, I am starting a new fitness resolution.

I would be lying if I say new activewear does not motivate me. Without a doubt, it does. There is nothing like getting new gear and wanting to wear it at the gym while you’re building new muscle. I’m partnering up with local boutique LABL VB to share a fun activewear look. Lindsay Bangel is the owner of the boutique in Virginia Beach and sells fun, fashionable fitness wear for all lifestyles. What I love about LABL VB activewear is it’s more fashion forward and funky, too. Plus, it’s not too traditional and is perfect for athleisure. For example, I have paired these leggings with sweaters and tops, threw on a leather jacket with my bag and they look great. The boutique sells brands including Koral (my entire outfit is from this line), Onzie, Terez, Vimmia, Alo Yoga and K-Dee.

My fitness goals for 2017 are pretty simple: maintain what I have and build some more muscle. I think a good amount of the muscle I spent 2014 and 2015 building have faded away at some point in 2016. I’d love to get some of that back, especially in my arms. I’m going to try to work out at least two or three times a week. Two times a week, I will do body weight exercises, including my favorite donkey kicks, push backs, and side lunges to build my booty, while also doing my favorite abs on fire workout. I also plan on doing about thirty to forty minutes of cardio about once or twice a week. I’m going to keep it simple for now.

To help motivate you, I am partnering up with LABL VB to give away a sports bra of your choice from the Virginia Beach boutique! Here’s how to enter:

  1. Head over to my Instagram and find the photo from this post.
  2. Follow me (HKCung) and LABL VB
  3. Comment on the photo with what your fitness goals are for this year and the emoji describing it
  4. Tag two friends

That’s it! The giveaway will end Tuesday at 11:59 EST. I’ll announce the winner Wednesday! Good luck y’all!

Weekend Trip to Asheville, N.C. :: Food + Travel Guide

Ann Taylor sweater (also in gray + black), Blanknyc jacket (less than $100!) , AG Jeans (similar), Stuart Weitzman boots (dupe), J.Crew neck tie (also in blush)

Happy Wednesday my beautiful friends!
If you follow me on Snapchat (HKCung) you may have seen my 20 billion snaps from my trip to Asheville, N.C. On Friday, my friend Kim and I decided to take the spontaneous trip and we scrambled to make it happen! Once I was off work after reporting for the 11 p.m. newscast the two of us hit the road with our men! It was a 6.5-hour drive to Asheville from Virginia Beach. Many people have said Asheville is a big hipster town, which I would have to agree. However, there is plenty of charm, history and plenty of fantastic places to eat!

Since it was just a weekend trip to Asheville, I didn’t pack too much. I only brought my trusty kicks along with my favorite over-the-knee boots for shoes. For more on my travel outfit, visit my previous blog post here. The next day, I stayed relatively casual. You may remember how much I love these distressed jeans because they are so soft. They were perfect tucked into my boots for a comfy day of sight-seeing. The weather was absolutely beautiful. The mornings and evenings would see mid to upper 40s with 60s during the day. I’m still on a burgundy kick, so this warm sweater with cute bell sleeves at the end. My leather jacket was enough to keep me warm during the trip, too! Also, I threw on this neck tie to spice things up! Definitely bring shoes you’re comfortable walking long distances in. Don’t forget your layers, too! Scarves are a must! Read on for my tips on what to do and eat!

What to do:
-The Biltmore Estate is truly what Asheville, N.C. is known for. A trip to Asheville is honestly not complete without it. This is America’s largest home with a Chateauesque style, boasting 250 rooms, for George Washington Vanderbilt. Construction took about six years and boy was this worth it! The house itself was gorgeous and so lush. We did the Candlelight Christmas Evenings tour where we saw the house decked out in its Christmas best. Tickets also allow you to visit the gardens, winery, village and more either before your tour or the day after. I really enjoyed the gardens, which were absolutely stunning! I highly recommend the package since you get so much out of it.

What to eat:
Vortex Doughnuts: This was our very first stop since we arrived around 7 a.m. The offer vegan options and the doughnuts come in a variety of flavors including blackberry swirl, cinnamon sugar, Sour cream cake, salted caramel and more! Johnny ordered one of each flavor and we ended up with 14 doughnuts, three of which aren’t pictured. The yeast was delish and was very moist. The blackberry swirl was my favorite!

Chestnut: This was our lunch spot and it was definitely yummy! Due to bad logistics, we weren’t able to check into our room, so we were running on very little sleep – hence the lack of photos. Our friends say the spicy bloody mary’s were good! I ordered the fried chicken, which was good. It wasn’t my favorite, but it definitely was yummy! We had plans to eat elsewhere, but the wait for food in Asheville could rival Austin! Almost everything had a wait of at least 45 on Saturday around brunch time. Chestnut didn’t have a wait, but still had great food so we jumped on it! Definitely plan for this accordingly when you take a trip to Asheville.

Rocky’s Hot Chicken: Everyone got spicy chicken, but me and say it was good. Kim did mention it tasted a little sweet, but Mike and Johnny seemed to like their chicken. I got chicken pot pie and it was incredible! The soup was very creamy, not watery at all. The puff pastry was delicious and it wasn’t too hot to eat right out of the oven.

Posana Restaurant: Johnny originally made dinner reservations at Posana, a cute dinner restaurant Kim and I found on yelp. We thought we wouldn’t make it after touring the Biltmore for an hour and a half, but we made it just on time! We went halfsies on this meal and both couples ordered the bone-in rib eye steak, which was around 32 oz. It was huge. However, the meat is extremely tender and melts in your mouth. It was incredibly well peppered and salted, plus the oyster mushrooms it came with were very tasty. If you take a tirp to Asheville, you have to eat here!

Creperie Bouchon on the left, Posana Restaurant on the right

Creperie Bouchon: While walking around Asheville Saturday, the four of us spotted this cute French restaurant. The next morning we decided to go back for their crepes! I got the Berry-Nut crepe, which has seasonal berries with nutella, pictured below. My crepe was delicious and I loved all the fresh berries inside. There may have been too much nutella for my taste, but it definitely hit the spot Sunday morning.
